Matt Walsh’s new episode (Ep. 1828) is titled These American Cities Are Rapidly Turning into Zimbabwe.

Synopsis

Gary, Indiana is roughly 80 percent Black, spent nearly two weeks without power after the violent August 11 windstorm. Memphis, Tennessee — also majority Black — lost power to more than 100,000 households. Officials and activists quickly reached for the same explanation: environmental racism, systemic neglect, white supremacy.

Tennessee Rep. Justin Pearson immediately framed the Memphis outage as “another majority Black, working class city left in the dark.” Bernice King called the Gary blackout “part of a pattern” in which Black communities are expected to endure conditions that would be treated as intolerable elsewhere. Walsh takes direct aim at both, treating their comments as the familiar reflex that turns every infrastructure failure into racial grievance while ignoring the fact that NIPSCO’s leadership includes Black executives (CEO Lloyd Yates among them), Gary’s mayor and city council are Black, and Memphis is similarly led. While crews worked in Gary, someone shot at a marked utility vehicle, briefly pausing restoration. He then draws the comparison that gives the episode its title: Zimbabwe and South Africa declined sharply after the end of white minority rule, with failing infrastructure, high unemployment, and poverty. The core argument is that racial grievance politics shields local leadership from accountability, producing the same patterns of dysfunction.

San Francisco’s Warning: Compassion Without Accountability

Bill O’Reilly’s NewsNation special, The Decline and Fall of San Francisco, doesn’t pull punches. It shows a city that once welcomed the world now struggling with open drug use, tent encampments, retail theft, and random violence. The root cause? Progressive policies that prioritized compassion without consequences.

The numbers tell part of the story. San Francisco spent roughly $106,000 per homeless person annually. It handed out cash assistance and harm-reduction supplies — needles, even pipes — while “Housing First” programs placed people in apartments with no requirement for sobriety or treatment. Prop 47 turned theft under $1,000 into a misdemeanor, fueling smash-and-grabs that drove stores to close. Overdoses climbed. Mental illness went largely untreated on the streets because involuntary commitment was politically toxic.

Former Mayor Willie Brown put it plainly: once public-safety laws stopped being enforced, the city spiraled into anarchy. Frustrated residents fought back by recalling District Attorney Chesa Boudin in 2022 and electing new leadership that is now rolling back some of the most extreme policies, including stepped-up cleanups and enforcement.

Tucker: This Is Why Your Cities Have Become More Dangerous

 In sharing this with you all, I wanted to remind you that an anniversary is coming up. George Floyd's death at the hands of Minneapolis Police five years ago. It touched off a very chaotic period in American cities and eventually moved around the world.

The civil unrest that took place around the country in the wake of Floyd's death happened during the pandemic as the world began to sort of open up after a time of mitigation efforts. My belief is that this wouldn't have been as problematic if people weren't largely isolated in their homes in an effort to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.

Harmeet Dhillion is currently the head of the Civil Rights Division in the Trump administration. And she discusses why American cities had become very unsafe and she often cites these federal consent decrees. You can watch below and once you see her speak with Tucker Carlson I will have more thoughts. [VIDEO]

Dhillon notes the Ferguson effect, which is probably reference to what happened there with Michael Brown. The issue she discusses is how in some of these cities police officers are forced to write reports which keeps them from policing. And she notes how many officers instead choose to leave the police force for good or they may opt to go somewhere that allows them to actually police. She even note that the edicts often come down from the federal gov't and those who oversee these decrees may have very little experience with policing. 

In most recent news, we've learned that the Minneapolis and Louisville police departments have had consent decrees lifted from the federal gov't. As you may know in Louisville, KY there was a young lady named Breonna Taylor who sadly was shot to death in a police raid.

While protests regarding her were not as widespread as Floyd, there were a lot of people I saw as passionate about her case as well.

[VIDEO] I haven't fully watched this video, however, as it starts the discussion is very interesting. Discussing Dave Chappelle standing up for his small town and the businesses within. And then we start talking about issues of high crime in our cities in part due to the policies of progressive politicians.

German in Venice: 6th Street Bridge in L.A.

 

[VIDEO] I didn't subscribe to his channel until recently when doing I saw his most recent trip to Germany where he visit Elvis Presley's home when he was in the U.S. Army stationed there.

He's done recently videos on the newly reopened 6th Street viaduct bridge in Los Angeles, California noting cars doing donuts on it. Wait something like that made the news here in Chicago, except it was in the middle of an intersection late at nite near downtown.

In any event in this video you see above the City of Los Angeles is trying to abate that problem by putting up little porcelain dividers in the middle of the bridge. Those little yellow objects might not stop a car, but it would be as easy as it had been to do donuts. In fact hopefully you're a good driver and know how to avoid them.

Just found this interesting and wanted to share this with you.

And wait haven't I heard about this bridge in a song: I Love L.A. Well perhaps not specifically the bridge. :P

Bill O'Reilly when will the mask mandates ends

 

[VIDEO] Bill O'Reilly talks up over time the whole vaccine thing believing that if you're not vaxed you will get hurt. Leaving that aside because well that should be up to everyone, and that advice should be heeded by those who are most at risk we're at the seeming end of this pandemic.

As you know most of Illinois because Chicago just doesn't know yet, will likely let go of mask mandates by the end of this month. Of course that's for example as O'Reilly discusses other cities and states as well as private venues such as Disneyland.

It makes sense, now the perception becomes if you want all these restrictions on daily life based on vax status or being masked then now it's about power. It's a shame that with a serious disease as coronavirus - many just consider this like influenza - that it's become political virtue signaling as far as whether or not you take your precautions. Time to live with this thing and take to heart what we've learned with this thing, if you're sick stay home or even wear a face mask. Keep washing your hands, etc.

I've ran into people years before this pandemic if I sneeze they move away, they're concerned about getting sick. Besides sneezing or coughing is nothing, however, I won't judge if you do that. I find myself doing it sometimes now.

Still time to end some of these mitigations that we've had to live with since 2020. Time to get back to normal! 

Stossel: Why do progressives ruin cities?

Basically progressive policies are designed to not punish those individuals or groups that they believe are victims. That means if a "victimized" group is engaging in outright shoplifting then authorities can choose not to keep them in custody. Or if a homeless person is in public getting high as he lives on the streets there will be lax enforcement against that. It leads to this idea of a progressive ruining a city...

O'Reilly: 12 American cities ruined by progressive leadership

 

[VIDEO] Twelve American cities ruined by P.L.L. Democrat leadership. A leadership promoting policies that prove destructive for quality of life in their cities. Many of those policies are well intended perhaps righting historic wrongs for minorities, making a criminal justice system more equitable, creating policies for the environment, trying to slow down climate change, perhaps even a more equitable economic policy, on & on.

Cities like Chicago, Washington, New York, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, etc. All of those cities have P.L.L leadership and all of those cities and then some named by Bill O'Reilly in thee above video have been suffering from increased crime, homelessness, even economic issues due to those policies I named above.

I suppose we can link this to Larry Elder and his run in the recall for Governor of California. California as a whole is a progressive paradise that really needs to reverse course and soon. Perhaps someone in California needs to be the alternative to those in power who swear by progressivism.

If that's true in California it's true in other states and certainly in cities in the rest of the nation outside of California.

I wonder how many in Chicago is craving common sense at city hall right now! 

Prager U: What do we do about the homeless?

 

[VIDEO] Chris Rufo discusses why homelessness has become an issue in many places around America. He specifically notes that cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle have severe issues with homeless. They created a place where homelessness is tolerated.

If you allow people to set up tents on a city street and you do very little solve that problem then what do you expect. A lot of these people need help I don't want to put them in a box because the homeless have varied issues whether mental health, substance abuse or even just hard on their luck. I will no longer pretend that I know how to solve this problem.

At the same time if you saw what I saw a few years ago in Skid Row, Los Angeles how can we not decide to try to solve this problem. It's not compassion to allow these individuals to live their lives on the streets. And at least we see a city like Houston, Texas comes to grip with these issues.

Liberal Hivemind: Portland has fallen

 

[VIDEO] A recent news story coming out of weird Portland, Oregon is that the riot squad just quit. Probably no surprise as they hardly have much support from the civil leaders there. It's bad news as Portland has really never settled down in the past year due to what happened with George Floyd.

And this is a sign of a number of places with weak leadership. In the name of many disadvantaged groups the preference is to not stand for law & order but just be generally permissive and unable to govern for that reason. Turn a blind eye and believe blindly that riots and burning buildings are nothing more than "peaceful protests".

Sedition

 

[VIDEO] Words you'd never imagine hearing about in the 21st Century, sedition. That word is being mentioned in this report from FOX News. US Attorney General Bill Barr is looking at sedition charges towards Antifa especially for their role in the recent unrest.

Remember CHAZ/CHOP sedition charges may well apply to that situation as well. If you attempt to "conspire to overthrow...the gov't of the United States...or by force seize, take, or possess any property of the United States". Now if you want to know why I'm surprised about the usage of the word sedition, it seems like such an antiquated concept doesn't it?

Well, we're in odd times aren't we. Who would imagine protestors rioters would take over a small piece of land in the downtown area of a large city? Who would imagine the toll this would take on an area with many businesses and certainly residents who want to feel safe and secure? Well for as long as this CHAZ/CHOP area would persist for most of June in Seattle, Washington that's what happened and you had incidents where two young men were killed.

What I could also support is brining federal charges - it was noted criminal and civil although I don't know how civil charges work - against public officials who go against their oaths to uphold and protect the US Constitution. I would say that's definitely true in Portland, Oregon where the Mayor just seemed very unwilling to take back his city's streets after over three months of civil unrest there.

And of course they talk about Seattle and bringing charges against the Mayor there. I could thrown in Minneapolis as they were so quick to abolish and defund their police only to start whining about an uptick in crime there as a result. See here's the deal you start finding ways to dismantle your police departments you get into the real state of nature where might makes right. On top of that no new plans for how you plan to assert control over your local streets.

Minneapolis Police union leaders speaks on recent BLM protest

[VIDEO] A few days ago I shared a video of a protest outside of a Minneapolis Police union official Bob Kroll in his suburban Twin Cities home. It was such an angry and vile speech by a state legislative candidate that has made the news - well FOX News who knows if it even made it to CNN, MSNBC, CBS, etc. Either way Kroll who is also currently a Lieutenant in the Minneapolis Police was interviewed by Laura Ingraham on her FOX program.

I've revisited in a couple of posts the initial unrest in Minneapolis back in May on this blog recently and shared posts from the Minnesota based blog Powerline which discusses the rift between the Minneapolis Mayor and the Minnesota Governor. It seems a riot in one of the state's largest city wasn't urgent enough for the Governor to immediately mobilize the Nat'l Guard there. I used those posts to stick up for the Mayor Jacob Frey as he hoped to maintain control of city streets there.

Of course what's clear from Lt. Kroll's comments is that there was a failure of leadership long before the unrest back in May of this year. And if you believe what's being said in this report, the damage from this disaster will take many years to recover from and I'm led to believe in spite of Minneapolis being such a "progressive paradise" it's not right now! 

ABL: Black Conservative Baltimore Woman Makes GREAT Campaign Ad!

[VIDEO] Kim Klacik is running for the former congressional seat of the late Elijah Cummings and facing against Cummings predecessor and successor Kweisi Mfume. Klacik is a Republican and you will see a hint of her message where she exposes what's going on in one neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland.

She makes one basic point which is why have things not gotten better in inner city communities. We see bombed out housing in Baltimore with overgrown vegetation. We see nothing but depression and she mentions the crime in Baltimore. Murders are 10x the national average there and unfortunately residents of Baltimore had for years continued to vote in the same politicians who are allowing many of these issues to persist.

I wish there are people in Chicago who can get elected this way. Often they won't that's not to say we don't have them. Such politicians are making their rounds on cable TV such as one Alderman Raymond Lopez (Ward 15) he's not a Republican but if he's for safer streets and he does represent a community that can use some help then I'd be happy to follow him.

I also wanted to note the greatest argument of "white privilege" - to defund or abolish police. Her commercial talks to people on the streets who wants police and no defund or abolish. The people who are speaking this the loudest saying fcuk the police or defund police are people who I'm sure hardly have any real interactions with police officers. They don't know how devastating for these poor communities having no police protection will be.

As I've stated before on this blog, with all the unrest going on around the country since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minn there is no leadership in many of America's largest cities. I think that's tragic. It didn't exist in Minneapolis, one can say it doesn't exist in Chicago, it doesn't exist in NYC, and I will dare say it doesn't even exist in the city too busy to hate Atlanta, Ga. When will the real leaders of these major cities step up to the plate.

And in November, let's see where Klacik is against the former NAACP leader Mfume.

The adults have arrived in Minneapolis

If the Mayor was impotent to stop his city council from abolishing the Minneapolis, Minnesota Police Department, another arm of city government Minneapolis Charter Commission made their move. Minor fact that I didn't really know about Minneapolis, a police department is part of their city charter.

Via Minneapolis' Star Tribune:

In a 10-5 vote, the Minneapolis Charter Commission decided Wednesday to block a controversial policing proposal from the November ballot by invoking its right to take more time to review it.

“We have an obligation to make sure that what is going on the ballot gives the voters an informed choice, that they can make a decision in a thoughtful way,” said Charter Commissioner Andrew Kozak, adding that he didn’t think the proposal accomplished that.

It could still come before voters next year. But the commission’s action to keep it off this year’s ballot dealt a major setback to activists and City Council members who have worked to transform Minneapolis’ public safety system following the police killing of George Floyd.

“People in Minneapolis have been in the streets for months demanding change, only to hear from the Charter Commission that there haven’t been enough studies and consultants,” Sophia Benrud, an organizer with the Black Visions Collective, said in a statement. “When white supremacy is the law of the land, it is a luxury to say we need ‘more time’ before we can make change. Every single voter should have had the chance to vote on this amendment in 2020.”

In recent weeks, the commissioners, all volunteers appointed by a judge, found themselves the focus of intense pressure from people lobbying on all sides of the fight over whether to end the Minneapolis Police Department.

At the center of that debate is the city’s charter, which serves as its constitution, and requires Minneapolis to keep a police department with a minimum force based on its population. A plan, written by five City Council members, would have ended that requirement and replaced the police department with a Department of Community Safety & Violence Prevention that would prioritize “a holistic, public health-oriented approach.”

As part of a last-ditch effort to send the proposal over the hurdle, a group of City Council members sent the commissioners a letter Wednesday assuring them that they “expect the transformed system to include law enforcement as part of a multifaceted approach to public safety.”

“The Minneapolis City Council is not asking you to put police abolition on the ballot, nor does the amendment propose this,” they wrote. “We are asking you to let Minneapolis vote on a new framework for public safety that aligns with the State of Minnesota’s Department of Public Safety.”

You see that virtue signaling there. White supremacy is the law of the land. I think if you replaced white supremacy with systemic racism she's basically saying the same thing.

Why is this tinged with racial supremacy or systemic racism? We're talking about public safety a supposed peace shrine to the late George Floyd is a warzone at night and you're playing games with public safety?

Before the unrest the last week of May, I had a different view of Minneapolis. Progressive liberals dominate there it's supposed to be this great place to live and although there were several shootings of civilians by police that got national attention did anyone see the mayhem coming? I can't say I did.

Good on the Charter Commission to demand more study on the plan for a Dept. of Community Safety & Violence Prevention. Perhaps Minneapolis will still have their police department. Perhaps the police can stop saying Minneapolis citizens need to comply with the criminal [Snopes link]....

For those who want to abolish their local police department, especially in a city like Minneapolis or even in Seattle (which is a proposal for now, but that city is also another dominated by progressive liberals) I always imagine a very toothless and impotent public safety security force. It probably won't perpetuate violence, but as far as keeping the peace in a city it won't foot the bill at all!

"I mean, I hear that loud and clear from a lot of my neighbors," [Minneapolis City Council President Lisa] Bender said. "And I know -- and myself, too, and I know that that comes from a place of privilege. Because for those of us for whom the system is working, I think we need to step back and imagine what it would feel like to already live in that reality where calling the police may mean more harm is done."

I wonder what the Black residents of Minneapolis think. I'm willing to bet they're nervous about abolishing their police just like their white neighbors.

At least Bender knows she comes from a place of privilege too bad the solution is a lot more troublesome.
