Took this political compass quiz

 I wanted to share the results of this political compass quiz that I had taken tonight. To be honest Imm not sure what this means, but if I judge the chart correctly I'm trending towards libertarian and slightly right of center.

Well I suppose I have to read this like a mathematical graph that you might be familiar with if you take an algebra or geometry class. The quiz itself isn't perfect, but it's interesting. Perhaps if I can figure out how to share it you might see my certificate of taking this quiz. 

I would also like to share with you this from my Shedd School blog. I share a video from another guilty YouTube pleasure. A teacher named Mr. Beat who took this same quiz and answered questions as if hes each of the 44 men who held the office of the Presidency. The results were quite interesting.

[VIDEO] Here's an unusal video to mark this Good Friday. I've been watching videos over the last few weeks by Shawn Woods. His shtick if you will is trapping rodents who may be running around in his barn. And he has a regular feature called "Mousetrap Mondays". It's even the url for his website mousetrapmonday.com.

On this day Woods share with us footage of rodents squirrels, mice, and rats who are eating off of a Reese's peanut butter Easter bunny candy. He's not outright trying to trap these animals he's probably trying to see what creatures are running around on his property. He also finds chipmunks and shrews running around.

When he does his videos on mousetraps they may be live traps where he'll allow the mice to go free and he's may use traps that are fatal. He has said that he's run into issues with YouTube as he's set up his channel to generate revenue, however, an algorithm has determined his videos to not be family friendly. Especially those traps that are designed to kill mice and recently he's even had to unlist those videos of those fatal mousetraps for those of us who want to see how those various traps work. For public consumption he's forced to edit and censor such videos.

I'd recommend this video if you're having issues with rodents at home. Even though Woods live in a rural area for the most part, even city slickers would like to find away to get those pests that invade our space.

I felt the bite of a "polar vortex" this week...

Temp on Monday

Had myself an interesting week. The weather has finally warmed up earlier this week the temperature was as low at 16 degrees below zero. I still had to work that day which was Monday and I was feeling the cold for certain.

It was not long after the snow had ended and because I had to work not enough time to really dig out which I eventually did on my day off. And at that school was out for the last two days in light of the weather although at first it seemed CPS was willing to stay open and force students to get out here in the elements.

Well, there are no complaints on my end, I stayed as warm as I could getting outside. I survived and hopefully many others did. And for Chicagoans - polar vortex or no polar vortex - weather like this is nothing new. Thankfully while we have at least two more months to go for winter, we should remember that spring is just around the corner.

It seemed that one or two days of very low temperatures was only temporary and it was. It seemed in spite of all the concerned, things got back to normal quickly. Even better the weather will warm and and all this snow and ice that accumulated will melt in the future.

BTW, sometimes I just get lazy to shave it coincided at the right time with the weather. The fuzz on my face kept it warm because once I had shaved and my face felt the bite of the cold. Though thankfully on that day it wasn't as cold as it had been on Monday. Still now, I'm glad to have shaven it off! :)

Just a way to post more frequently without having to do so here. I did intend this blog to be more for the long form (essay) posting anyway. At least I can get away with posting short form posts there on a variety of subjects. An excuse to really peruse blogs, news sites, etc. Comments aren't allowed there, but perhaps it's time to post an e-mail address there to allow for comments.

This post I made there deserves a long form post here though!

Oh yes, this must go viral!!!!

[VIDEO] Ald. Toni Foulkes of the 15th Ward is speaking in this video that is posted over at the website aptly named The 15th Ward. It chronicles the campaign as there is a run off to take place next month. When you watch tell me that you got almost nothing out of what she said. I know that she was talking, talking, talking, and basically said nothing.

BTW, she wouldn't appear on TV with her opponent in this race. I wonder if this video shows why she won't be seen on TV anytime soon.

Mayor-elect Emanuel transition

Almost reminds me of President Obama's transition website. The one that he had in his then capacity as President-elect. It still exists at Change.gov as a matter of fact.

Another feature of Emanuel's transition website is that it allows you to send him your resume if you want to join his administration. Although I have no problem with this just wonder if one should already have a job in mind if they feel so bold enough to send their resume in?

Rahmbo’s Latino Problem

My friend in New York takes aim at Chicago's Mayoral race of course it's in keeping with his niche issue of immigration. He wrote this before the former White House Chief of Staff was kicked off the ballot by our state appellate court:

In the end, I doubt that the anti-Emanuel forces among Hispanic activists in the city of Chicago can prevent him from assuming office in a Democratic primary that is increasingly looking like a coronation. As the article points out, Emanuel is already lapping his closest Latino opponent among Latino voters who’ve declared a preference, and I doubt that anything said or done between now and the election will change that. Rahm has too much name recognition, too much money, and too many influential backers among the Daley and Obama machines for his campaign to be derailed at this point in time.

Now we have to see if Emanuel is able to win his appeal and get back on the ballot for Mayor of Chicago.

Hehehe, I keep forgetting that he wants it known that he writes for a website not a blog. :P

35 Ways You Can Help the Homeless

I'll be honest I tend to just not respond to the homeless. Just have my ideas about some of them mainly that they beg and offer nothing else. Perhaps I don't trust them.

Well this list gives me something to consider. If the homeless begs who's to say I have to give them money. Could always offer a donation to a local homeless shelter. At that I could always offer them some information that could help them get off the streets. Ultimately that would be what I would like to see. Not sure standing on the streets looking for a handout is what will get them off the streets.

Let me also be honest I don't know much about how they got to where they are or what their backgrounds are. All the same I would never offer money, but certain offer them something that I take for granted such as food.

I would like to recommend this post where he bounced of a story from the Capitol Fax with regards to Gov. Quinn and Sen. Bill Brady and their positions on immigration. In addition to who are the illegals in Illinois. I think it's a good read in any event!

Marathon Pundit: Anti-ShoreBank Tea Party

John Ruberry posted his report on the Tea Party at a ShoreBank branch across from City Hall today. You can even see a picture of his sign and his gangster style suit. :P

I see that Blogger has finally resolved the issue that didn't allow me to post here from last night to this afternoon. I know for sure that John Ruberry had issues posting this morning. He largely had to mobile blog today.

I put up a number of posts over at Unconventional Wisdom which became sort of a back-up to this blog today. Hopefully you'll take a look at them. Some of those posts will be put up here in the near future. Thank you!

Wolf Files: 12% pure hope

I found this via a link on Instapundit, yesterday. Didn't know that he's been around in right-wing circles. Even was interviewed on PJTV back in March.

What makes him unique? My easy answer to that is that he's a second cousin to President Obama. At that he's a conservative and was known for being largely opposed to his cousin's health care schemes.

BTW, if you don't believe that he's related to him he breaks down his familial ties here!

YouTube's at five years

Believe it or not YouTube didn't exist when I started blogging five years ago. If I wanted to share something I saw on TV with you all I could do is either link to it or discuss it in whatever detail I could.

Now assuming someone else has posted some segment from TV, I can embed onto this blog. And this doesn't merely have to be YouTube. These days we also have the luxury of embedding from a variety of sources, especially if that clip is available from a major media outlet whether newspaper, TV or whatever. So it doesn't always have to be YouTube.

For example if I were to embed from the C-Span archives the program on the American Presidents I can do that here. Now be prepared to watch a program in excess of 2 or 3 hours.

Of course not all we see on YouTube needs to be that serious. People have become "famous" because people may have created some mindnumbing entertainment. There doesn't have to be any rhyme or reason for it, but it captures people's attention for the moment.

Perhaps that's the revolution of YouTube.
