Since we’re nearing the end of Pride Month, I wanted to share this IG post from my alma mater, Morehouse College. It triggered a reaction that reminds me we’re not entirely out of the woods when it comes to “woke” or DEI influences in academia.

'Let's go Brandon' to speak at Morehouse College commencement

And there are some objections to this as you will see from this recent NBC Chicago article:

Morehouse College is set to announce that President Joe Biden will deliver its commencement address on May 19, but some faculty members have raised concerns about the decision, according to two people familiar with the matter and an email to faculty members reviewed by NBC News.

“This week, I received an inquiry from concerned faculty about rumors they were hearing about President Biden’s selection as the 2024 Commencement speaker,” Kendrick Brown, Morehouse College’s provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, wrote in the email to faculty members Friday.

Brown said he would convene a virtual meeting Thursday “to extend an opportunity for faculty with different perspectives on the selection of our Commencement speaker to ask questions and make comments.” He said students would also engage with college President David Thomas.

A Morehouse faculty member told NBC News administrators are believed to be concerned that faculty members will join students in protest of Biden during the ceremony.

The pushback against leadership’s decision comes amid increasing protests on college campuses over Biden’s support for Israel in its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The protests since the war began in October have already forced Biden, and other top administration officials, to dramatically scale back appearances at college campuses.

Ah, OK.

I don't believe President Joe Biden is particularly popular anyway. This will give the school necessary attention as probably happened when President Obama delivered his commencement address years ago.

However, with that conflict going on in Gaza, now I see why the protests. What's popular with students on college campuses is protesting in favor of the Palestinians and against the Israeli responses to Hamas' attacks. 

60 years ago

 

[VIDEO] I wanted to use this excuse to share this video from Mr. Beat who takes a look at the  assassination of the 35th President John Fitzgerald Kennedy which took place 60 years ago today.

I wasn't even thought about in 1963, and can never really appreciate the impact of this tragic event. I might understand the impact of the tragic event of 9/11. Right now people go on-and-on about 1/6/21.

So many people might still obsess over 11/22 because there are more questions than answers about it. People still debate whether or not Lee Harvey Oswald committed this crime. And then what about any roles by the Cubans, the CIA, the FBI, or even the Italian American Mafia.

Oh and Lyndon Baines Johnson, how badly did he want to be President? He was already a larger than life figure who had been relegated to the Vice Presidency, was he willing to go this far?

Again more questions than answers. However, allow me to emphasize that although JFK was only President for almost three years he has a decent record. He faced down the Soviets during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the economy was in good shape, he provided needed leadership in the emerging Civil Rights debate, and he was just starting his bold vision to send men to the moon & return them back to Earth. Also just remember at 43 he's the youngest man ever elected President and the youngest to die in office at 46.

He was just getting started and it ended quickly. :(

Valuetainment: Why The Underdogs Almost Always Win

[VIDEO] Patrick Bet David takes a look at presidential underdogs. 

For example Dewey v. Truman 1948. Truman was the incumbent president and it was expected that then NY Governor Thomas Dewey would become the 34th POTUS. Instead Truman would come back from behind to win it.

Then there was 1960 JFK versus Richard Nixon. Nixon was a younger man like Kennedy both men weren't yet 50. JFK was the underdog having his father solidly behind him though believe it or not he was not that well known back then. Nixon was also the sitting Vice President at the time, Kennedy won because he was far more youthful on the then new medium of television.

We could go up to 2016 which David briefly discusses Hillary Rodham Clinton a former first lady, former US Senator and US Secretary of State. She had wanted to be President since she was a youth. She lost to Barack Obama in 2008 for the Democrat nomination for President and we also know where that went.

She also lost to Donald Trump. The analysis will be that Trump just plain outworked Hillary. She outraised campaign funds but she was denied her dream by the passions that help get Trump elected. So now her footnote is that she's so far thy only woman nominated by a major party for President.

This is a very fascinating video.

Ben Shapiro: Everything you need to know about gold standard

 

[VIDEO] Simply put before 1971 the American dollar was based upon its convertability into gold. Shapiro goes through the history of the gold standard in the U.S. and he starts in 1834 when American goes on the gold standard. Of course what changes is that monetary policy changes.

By the Great Depression the gov't nationalizes gold and prohibits convertability. America becomes the world's reserve currency. As explained by Shapiro other national currency instead of attaching their own currencies to gold instead attaches their value to that of the American $ which until 1971 was still on the gold standard.

In 1971, the American dollar essentially becomes a fiat currency per the direction of President Richard Nixon. He would term this action to protect the value of the American dollar. And that means the value of our currency will be based upon the full faith and credit of the U.S. gov't.

I've met a few people over the years who think the $ should go back on the gold standard.

Ben Shapiro: Pansexual Florida teacher FIRED for drawing LGBTQ flags in class

[VIDEO] Shapiro for the win on his description of pansexuals - a person who feels sexual attraction towards pots and pans.

Anyway, the idea of LGBTQ+ etc etc I don't know what people are thinking to introduce them to children. Shouldn't we be more focused on the three Rs -which contrary to a clip I've seen in the past doesn't include recreation. Anyway how does it help these children to draw such a symbol/flag.

Liberal Hivemind: Woke Yale Law students SHUT DOWN free speech event

 

[VIDEO] Entitled young people cause enough of a scene that they don't just disrupt an event on campus they disrupt classes and faculty meetings. These young people go to one of the well known reputable schools in the world and show that they can't handle being told to grow up.

Seems to be an ongoing thing in higher ed right now. You shout down people you disagree with. You try to shut down an event that you have an issue with. You're not interested in a real debate or discuss you just want to take over the discussion and declare yourself the victor.

And if academia causes this, then academia has only caused you to not look at the world with great discernment. You just have your opinions about the world and just hold on no matter what and the real logic just doesn't sink in.

Andrew Klavan: Woke CREEPS are teaching your children

 

[VIDEO] The Daily Wire's Andrew Klavan takes a look at various TikTok videos showing some very absurd commentaries from teachers who claim to be non-binary. One teacher who works with children can't decide how she wants to her class to identify her. One lady wanted to refer to her gender identity as dead since the kids don't seem to recognize that she's non-binary....

You see this is the folly of introducing very adult concepts to children. They don't understand or do they?

Well the one who want to give herself the gender "dead" was outmaneuvered by a child - well a four year old - and this supposed adult is taking that very serious. Well children understand the concept of two genders, they might be thinking what's her problem if she doesnt want to be a boy or a girl....

I'm sorry I misgendered both of those teachers, I feel like this confusion is on purpose and it's not even necessary. If those two teachers are so confused about their identity and how the children in their charges should be able to identify them for their own comfort perhaps they need to get out of that teaching business, just saying.

Another video shows how children are being taught outside in inclement weather (well very cold weather) in Virginia wearing masks. Someone off screen is saying thats unacceptable however why is this being conducted outside, the pandemic we don't want those students to risk getting sick and getting others sick. It just shows out freaked out some parts of our society is about coronavirus and the various variants out there.

What 'Machiavellian' really means

[VIDEO] Well I should know this from taking political philosophy in college. The question here is whether or not Niccolo Machiavelli in The Prince was describing how one should acquire power or is he just detailing the reality of how power is acquired. 

It was even connected with later works of political philosophy which often describes how a society should be governed vs the reality of how a society is governed. Amongst other later works that The Prince influenced included Thomas Hobbes' Leviathan or John Locke's Second Treatise of Gov't. Now that I think about it, time to start reading.

Ingraham Angle: Youngkin slams former Gov. McAuliffe over parental control comments

 

[VIDEO] Remember that recent post about this year's race for Virginia Governor between the Democrat former Gov. Terry McAuliffe and his opponent Republican Glenn Youngkin.

I was hoping to find a stand-alone clip and preferably not by either a campaign or even from a biased media source. Indeed if this was just a run of the mill YouTube channel like my own which you're free to subscribe probably would work regardless of their agenda.

Either way perhaps this is the moment where the governor's race there could turn. In that recent post I shared a video regarding a poll showing the race has tightened. And as far as schools as far as the pandemic or even critical race theory in some districts I hear Virginia is a hot bed for those issues.

From the comments I first saw on the Ingraham Angle Wednesday nite it's amazing. I think parents as tax paying citizens should be very concerned about what their children are being taught in school. We're not talking about prayer in schools or anything like that we want to make sure our children are being educated to the point where they can truly function in our society.

Of course if you believe that public schools are now "indoctrination centers" students are being trained to become social justice activists more concerned about their preferred pronouns than basic skills to go through life. It's a shame that it's up for debate now.

Last nite Laura Ingraham interviews Glenn Youngkin.... At this point another month before the elections for Governor not only in Virginia, but New Jersey as well. I guess nothing to see there, yet.

Timcast IRL: Woke teachers HORRIFIED students follow Ben Shapiro or Joe Rogan

 

[VIDEO] I just had to share this with you all. This was actually uploaded on Tim Pool's podcast channel last year. I think the idea of this is hilarious if you believe our schools are "indoctrination centers", as if our teachers doesn't want to expose their students to different points of view. You want to "indoctrinate" students to a more progressive liberal left POV.

It's a bit ironic when a teacher is quoted stating that students following Shapiro or Rogan is a "threat to critical thinking". 😕

When I was in school I saw a few episodes of Rush Limbaugh's syndicated TV program. What would my 8th grade teacher think because I think he'd fit in with the wokeness though in his favor I'd like to think he has some element of his blue collar background in him. I view him as blue collar just in temperament or personality, therefore perhaps he still has some common sense unlike perhaps the more woke teachers of today.

Larry Elder on Black families angry with public education

 

[VIDEO] As you know Larry Elder is running in the recall election for Governor of California. If Golden State voters recall Gov. Gavin Newsom, there is a strong possibility that Elder would be voted to replace Newsom.

As Elder rolls out his campaign for Governor, one issue he has discussed is public education. He discusses the systemic racism of public education in Los Angeles. The systemic racism being schools in low-income communities have the least qualified teachers. And the schools may have staff that look like the community - i.e. Black teachers and administrators - however that doesn't help the schools continue to perform.

Another focus of this video released after Elder declared his candidacy for Governor is that California plans to phase out a basic skills test that will help teachers attain their credentials. What is addressed here is racism - and the ones who like to talk about systemic racism is unable to adequately define it in their own words. You've heard the argument that the SAT is culturally biased, are the the tests that California teachers are expected to take for their credentials culturally biased?

Is the Golden State willfully setting the bar lower for aspiring teachers only to set them up to fail? We hear of teachers who can't spell or even seemingly confused at simple math problems. Meanwhile we hear 75% of Black boys are unable to read at their grade level. And there are frustrated parents out there who don't like what they see with their children and the people who are charged with educating them.

Can Larry Elder fix an education system that seems very set in its ways?

Liberal Hivemind: Former BLM Leader SLAMS The Organization As FRAUDULENT!

 

[VIDEO] The young man you see chronicled here founded the St. Paul, Minn. chapter of BLM and ultimately swore them off believing them to be anti-Black mind and anti-Black family. He supports school choice while BLM is basically indifferent. You see Liberal Hivemind here discuss Richard Turner and I wonder if you might hear more people from that organization turn on BLM.

It's been in the news that one of the founders of the BLM National Foundation Patrisse Cullors has resigned from the organization. Conservatives have been talking about her purchase of a nice house away from the inner city. Of course this leads to charges of any financial improprieties within the organization.

Hivemind did another video about yet another BLM activist out of Colorado who's accused of child abuse and no I'm not going much further than that you're going to have to watch the video. We're just seeing the many ways BLM is starting to get discredited after they reached the height of their influence in the wake of George Floyd's death in 2020.

However, many have been going after BLM philosophically since last year. Consider that BLM scrubbed their about page once many pointed out how they're anti-family, the focus on single mothers, and of course other sexual identities. Nothing about Black males - other than those killed by the racist police - and certainly nothing about the role of fathers. It causes one to wonder is BLM really concerned about Black Lives?

Prof. Tobe Johnson's celebration of life #Morehouse

I didn't get to watch the livestream of Prof. Tobe Johnson's memorial service which was held on campus this past Friday. So for those of you who are part of the Morehouse community and certainly those of you who may have been his students in the political science department I'm sharing this with you if you just so happened to have missed this.

Prof. Tobe Johnson R.I.P.

 When I first started this blog I had a class with Prof. Tobe Johnson and to be honest he had faded me in this course once before. The concepts he expected his students to know to be honest was going over my head, and once I became determined to understand the concepts I had an aha moment and so did he. He knew I got it, and smooth sailing since then and took two other classes with him until finally graduating in 2009.

So I've taken with him "grammar of politics" or scope & methods of political science, urban management and policy analysis, and finally financial management of local government. The one thing I had failed to do then was take him for senior thesis. By the time I graduated seniors in pol. sci. didn't have to take senior thesis, but do a capstone project at the end of their matriculation.

What I can say today is that I survived Dr. Johnson and I actually survived Morehouse College. To be honest it is still surprising to me even now. Just wish I picked his brain more.

Founding Fathers aren't cancelled in San Francisco

 

[VIDEO] Bill O'Reilly from The First gives us an update from San Francisco with regards to their plan to rename some of their schools. Changing the names of those schools named from prominent Americans especially founding Fathers like George Washington or Thomas Jefferson and of all people Abraham Lincoln because you know he didn't do anything more for Blacks than freeing them from slavery.

I will have to admit I laughed when O'Reilly paraphrased or just inserted his opinion that the educators and adminstrators who run San Francisco's public schools just "don't know anything". Heh, it takes an ignorance of human psychology and history to engage in these half-baked measures...

Walter Williams: The Tragedy of Black Education Is New

 One of his last columns as I learned he passed away recently, Walter E. Williams was an economic professor and columnist. He occasionally guest hosted the Rush Limbaugh program, and I've heard a few of his programs over the years

Several years ago, Project Baltimore began an investigation of Baltimore’s school system. What it found was an utter disgrace.

In 19 of Baltimore’s 39 high schools, out of 3,804 students, only 14 of them, or less than 1%, were proficient in math.

In 13 of Baltimore’s high schools, not a single student scored proficient in math.

In five Baltimore City high schools, not a single student scored proficient in math or reading.

Despite these academic deficiencies, about 70% of the students graduate and are conferred a high school diploma—a fraudulent high school diploma.

The Detroit Public Schools Community District scored the lowest in the nation compared to 26 other urban districts for reading and mathematics at the fourth- and eighth-grade levels.

A recent video captures some of this miseducation in Milwaukee high schools: In two city high schools, only one student tested proficient in math and none are proficient in English.

Yet, the schools spent a full week learning about “systemic racism” and “Black Lives Matter activism.” By the way, a Nov. 19 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article asks: “How many Black teachers did you have? I’ve only had two.” The article concludes, “For future Black students, that number needs to go up.”

That last paragraph I excerpted, a pattern is developing. Less of learning of fundamentals, more learning of an agenda. The agenda that isn't going to help educate the young people.

Surely parents of school aged children have more to say about this than that. It could be worse children who learn this agenda can take this to Yale University and treat their privileged university as just like the world as they've been taught in K-12.

Prager U: What's wrong w/ 1619 project?

 

[VIDEO] Academic Wilfred Reilly discusses the issues with the 1619 project. I have some research to do on this Pulitzer Prize winning narrative which attempts to portray the United States as a very racist nation the moment it allowed the first slaves on its shores.

Questions to be asked what happened to July 4, 1776? What happened to the American Revolution and the colonists wanting to break from Great Britain the superpower of its day? What about the founding fathers such as Jefferson, Madison, or Washington?

Another main question to be asked is it fair to judge America of the 21st century in their racial attitudes to the America of the 20th century and indeed the 17th century? Is America a nation rooted in racism when a President of African descent was elected to two terms overwhelmingly in the 21st century?

I hear this narrative is being taught in schools lately. I'll bet a teacher somewhere is sharing this with their elementary, middle, junior, and high school students somewhere. It's one thing if this is taught in college where ideally students should be allowed to pick it apart and either find what they do agree with or find what's inconsistent.

[VIDEO] It's amazing that I attempted to share an article about Benford's Law with regards to the Presidential Election and it got my Twitter account flagged. And we get to see more information about it.

This video from the YouTube channel Stand-up Maths discusses it further. If you really have no great understanding of it, this video does a great job of it. While I understand it can be used in a court, it's still seen a problematic as evidence of voting fraud.

I share this with you as the legal battle continues in certain states and there is a hand recount to be started in Georgia. It's almost Florida in 2000 again except a different state and no issues with "hanging chads". BTW, I don't know if any electoral authority uses punch ballots anymore. 

Prager U: Is capitalism or socialism more democratic

 

[VIDEO] Dinesh D'Souza takes off where his wife weeks ago left off. She talks about American leftists really wanting this nation to turn into her native Venezuela with social divisions helping to steer the nation in a more chaotic direction.

Mr. D'Souza on the other hand talks about whether or not capitalism or socialism is more democratic. He emphasizes that yes every two or four years at least we have to vote in an election. As far as using our hard earned money we use that to vote everyday. If we don't like a product or got less than the service we expect we won't spend money on it.

Well with socialism, I suppose if people want it the expectation is that it will be more fair. People can pay for their health care or better yet gov't will take care of health care so that no one will really have to pay for it. No one will have to take out anymore student loans to go to a college which will expand access to a college education to everyone.

Either way just as we're expected to vote on this issue in Illinois for a progressive income tax - or a fair tax as it's marketed - we must insure the wealthy pay their fair share in income taxes. Thus we can afford some of these wonderful things that gov't is expected to provide.

On the other hand let's consider the wonderful things a capitalist or an entrepreneur can provide. Steve Jobs was able to create a device - we didn't know we needed such a device, hell even I got one - that allowed us to take pictures, sent text messages, or listen to music. That device among others made Apple Inc. a lot of money over time. The consumer willingly bought such devices and giving someone like a Jobs a lot of wealth as a result.

Consider that when someone decides it's OK to loot because they (businesses) have insurance...
