Life After Layoff: Why A $100K Salary Isn't What It Used To Be

[VIDEO] I still dream of making six-figures in my career and don't think that's even a close goal to realize. And to make at least $100,000/yr. is that a good number in today's economy?

Think inflation, higher cost of living, or more expenses as far as housing, transportation, groceries, utilities, etc. And think about the increase in college tuition and by extension student loan debt. Is $100,000/yr. a good number to earn from working?

A Life After Layoff is a YouTube channel offering career advice from a recruiters perspective. One tagline is "becoming the CEO of your career". The question is how does the question of a $100,000 become a topic on a job about careers? One advice he gives at the end is certainly to make that much money in wages/salary is more attainable, but takes careful career planning.

To make that six-figure goal, that's what I need at this moment.

Bill O'Reilly talks about the cost of living in New York

[VIDEO] The taxes and the cost of living in the state of New York or at least the New York City area and Long Island. He mentions tolls, parking, utilities, the cost of housing (shelter), etc.

Then he mentions places that probably would be a lot cheaper including Boston, MA of all places. What do they call Massachusetts - Taxachusetts. They're cheaper place to live than New York? Really?

If it's all about taxes where is that money going?

Tucker Carlson interviews Dave Ramsey

[VIDEO] As you may know Ramsey is more of a personal finance guy who advocates mostly for cutting up your credit cards and say no to debt. Even going so far to advise that people shoot for a 0 credit score bceause that means they have no debt.

Of course as you may see from his interview with Donald Trump fairly recently he's into discussion the economic plans for both the Democrats' Kamala Harris and the Republicans' Trump.

Ramsey and Tucker talk about personal finance and their dislike of big banks and economic policy in this recent sit down.

Dave Ramsey on the collapse of SVB

[VIDEO] I haven't read too much on this particular issue. What I know about this is that the mgmt at Silicon Valley Bank seemed to have done a bad job of insuring they had enough money on hand to stay afloat. They also put a lot of money into investments that don't mature until years later, which also means well they still don't have enough money on hand for lending and deposits.

Of course if you follow Tucker or Glenn Beck they make this about the economy under Joe Biden. They make this about the wokeness that pervades the work culture at these banks. And of course back to the starting point that I made, the bank was mismanaged especially the money was mismanaged.

I think Dave Ramsey calls it down the middle. If you're worried about the banking system don't worry about it. It wasn't just Silicon Valley that failed it's also Signature Bank. He mainly puts the crisis in terms of both of these banks that what allowed them to collapse and be taken over by the Federal Gov't isn't very pervasive in other banks such as Chase. According to him so far the public still has faith in Chase and hopefully other banks.

Also I understand both of those banks I mentioned that failed mostly catered to tech industry startups. Alas another contribution to these failures may have been the cyclical nature of the tech industry. It seems solid but let's not forget they're prone to layoff and downturns also.

Bill O'Reilly: The economic pain caused by Biden's 'Team Progressive'

[VIDEO] The economic damages of Joe Biden's policies, I find myself wondering if they are intentional. Perhaps they want to wreck the economy in order to justify further implementation of their policies.

Example, lets cut down on drilling of fossil fuels. Oh wait gas is more expensive well get rid of that car that's bad for the environment and get an electric car. Too expensive, take a bus!

I could go further, however, this about food prices and gas prices and ask what are the policies and what are the goals of those policies.

Ben Shapiro: Everything you need to know about gold standard

[VIDEO] Simply put before 1971 the American dollar was based upon its convertability into gold. Shapiro goes through the history of the gold standard in the U.S. and he starts in 1834 when American goes on the gold standard. Of course what changes is that monetary policy changes.

By the Great Depression the gov't nationalizes gold and prohibits convertability. America becomes the world's reserve currency. As explained by Shapiro other national currency instead of attaching their own currencies to gold instead attaches their value to that of the American $ which until 1971 was still on the gold standard.

In 1971, the American dollar essentially becomes a fiat currency per the direction of President Richard Nixon. He would term this action to protect the value of the American dollar. And that means the value of our currency will be based upon the full faith and credit of the U.S. gov't.

I've met a few people over the years who think the $ should go back on the gold standard.

O'Reilly: How Biden broke the economy

[VIDEO] Basically if you want to know in his clip with Russ Vought who was formerly director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Trump administration is basically overspending, printing too much money and finally ending any attempts at an independent energy policy in America. In 2020 the economy shut down due to coronavirus and yet no inflation no high gas prices.

It may well be one reason why President Trump lost his bid for re-election in 2020 - well leave aside electoral cheating or voter fraud - the pandemic economy. On the other hand the issues we're experiencing now well now we got them from a new administration and hardly any signs of this getting any better.

Liberal Hivemind: WORLD Banks Warn Of Major BIDEN Recession Due To Inflation

[VIDEO] We're one month in the Presidency of Joe Br....Biden and it has been a disaster. He's building back better, bringing America back, or a return to normalcy. Well....we're going from a pandemic induced recession to a recession due to Biden's policies.

Ben Shapiro: Here's why Biden is to blame for insanely high gas prices

[VIDEO] Ah the latest news out of the Biden administration gas prices. You want to go to work or even just go to the store and buy food it costs more to fuel your car to do that. Expect to put your money on an electrical vehicle as that's what the left wants you to do. Fossil fuels are bad for the environment so we don't even want you to have that choice.

Just recently I put $97 of gas into my vehicle. I've never seen it go that high. We can couple the energy policy of Let's go Brandon with the volatility of the Russia situation as they have their own oil on the market. This situation was needless, however, the green new deal/climate change crowd insists on their way and say we need to elimate all fossil fuels and make everyone buy an electric car....

Seems like such a bad economic idea to limit options because you only want one....

Mises Institute: Some successful Jacksonian reforms

[VIDEO] Andrew Jackson was our 7th POTUS from 1829 to 1837. Unfortunately he is known for his treatment of indigenous Americans as they sought to preserve their land claims in the southeast and in spite of a SCOTUS ruling forced them to settle further west.

One accomplishment of his administration is that he paid off the national debt of that time. Or perhaps more accurately as you learn in this discussion from Mises Institute he sets America on course to pay their national debt. He had successors such as James K. Polk who continued some of his policies.

Aside from the indigenous question the discussion turns to how did Jackson do with spending. Part of the national debt is spending and near the end of Jackson's presidency they didn't entirely control gov't spending. While America was on it's way to paying off its debt, they still hadn't tamped down spending.

Stossel: Bad gov't brings bad inflation

[VIDEO] John Stossel takes on this subject of inflation. One take away from this: inflation results in too much money chasing too few goods. Gov't spending more money is actually gov't chasing too few goods. Ahhh economics why are you my weakest subject....

Water and food shortage 2022

[VIDEO] What's disturbing is that as you watch this video is that if you're having problem finding food in your local grocery store this is all a plan from way above us. I just decided on this Sunday morning that this is something worth sharing from the YouTube channel Financial Argument.

Think about what you see in this video as I'm sure we'll continue to find out about any supply chain issues.

What is the "Great Reset"?

[VIDEO] I've been hearing a lot about this from those on the right in the past two years, especially during this pandemic. I don't have a great concept of it other than this is the plan to remake our society and economic systems with the added component of a Green New Deal. Do you think Mike Slater of The First explains it very well?

Business Insider: Earning 6 figures isn't enough to buy the American Dream anymore

This article is crushing my dream although I recently just decided to chase this dream.

But 70 years later, America's middle class is shrinking thanks to an increasing cost of living for everything from college tuition to healthcare. Income increases simply have not kept up with the exponential increase in living costs, and the pandemic has thrown job loss and pay cuts into the mix.

It means the six-figure salary just isn't what it used to be. Buying a house, paying for college, and having kids is barely attainable now, even on $100,000 a year.
. . .
Now, a six-figure salary is quite the range. A worker earning $100,000 annually probably has a more difficult time affording things like a house than someone raking in $900,000 a year. It would be unfair to generalize that the American Dream is out of reach for the entire six-figure club.

The American Dream also wasn't always attainable for everyone. Larry Samuel, author of "The American Dream: A Cultural History,"previously told Insider that while it used to be relatively easy for white citizens to realize that version of the American Dream, the country's dark legacy of segregation locked out Black Americans and other people of color from it.

And the dream continues to remain out of reach: 40% of high earners feel like they're living paycheck to paycheck, particularly 60% of high-earning millennials.

Life became more expensive after the Great Recession and even more so due to pandemic-related inflation and shortages of goods, services, and workers.

Timcast: CEOs supporting BLM riots BACKFIRING

[VIDEO] I wanted to share this yesterday. When you say burn it down and loot and declare that reparations this is what you get. You decide it's OK to destroy a small business or you think its OK to loot a big box store you've destroyed livelihoods.

A small business is someone's livelihood and they might not be making millions of dollars in the first place. And then a big box store or any major store chain well you might destroy and loot them so bad they might just close shop and force their regular customers to have to go much further for their goods. And the people in that community who work there well they're out of work. They have to find another job now.

And these CEOs who wanted to jump on the BLM bandwagon now they're begging for gov't assistance.

Ben Shapiro: Democrats celebrate gas prices going down by two pennies

[VIDEO] Heh! Hugh accomplishment I suppose. Just shows how much these green new dealers can relate to everyday people who still drive around in their combustion engine vehicles. We make them get electric vehicles to get to work or buy food and supplies. Please!

Just to show a graph from the DCCC

Stossel: A warning from Venezuela

[VIDEO] The policies that might be coming out of Washington, DC are very much like the policies of Venezuela. It's jarring to see Hollywood A-listers viewing a man like Hugo Chavez as a visionary leader but never recognizing where the policies eventually lead to.

Think about it inflation has become an issue in America. And supply chain issues which can include food shortages, think about what's going on at a grocery store near you. If you do have a fully stocked store food prices are going up.

And yet for some in our nation Venezuela is the model we must follow. Chavez is no longer President of Venezuela having died in 2013, however, under Nicolas Maduro we see the situation there has hardly changed.
