The Real Reason Gas Stays Expensive

Tom Ellsworth of the PBD Podcast walks through the numbers in Numbers Scream Ep. 35: The Real Reason Your Gas Is So Expensive.

Watch it here: [VIDEO]

The default story is the Iran conflict. Crude did jump when the war started—from the low $60s toward $90. Ellsworth’s point is that this is not why the pump stays near $4.

What the driver pays is set in the middle, between the well and the station. That number is the crack spread.

TechologyConnections: Gas stoves aren't really that fast

[VIDEO] His videos are usually very informative with a few humorous sarcastic remarks. Of course I failed to realize it's been almost an hour of this.

When I first saw this video I was thinking about how the news - well conservative media anyway - insists that for the sake of climate change that the progressives are now after your gas stoves. I don't believe TechConnections are very political in their content or even in general, however, I almost felt as if this video was about to feed into this.

However, if you watch this video you decide. You think a gas stove is better than election or vice versa? Why or why not?

Glenn Beck: THIS energy policy could kickstart plans to BANKRUPT YOU

[VIDEO] This about Tucker Carlson's monologue on his FOX News program on Monday nite, and then think about Beck's comments on his radio program over a week ago. Beck always has a bit of a "conspiracy" thing going on when he talks about issues like this. Then again both Tucker and Glenn are saying the same thing this "Green New Deal" is about control.

Tucker: Things are falling apart every quickly

[VIDEO] Another great monologue by Tucker Carlson from last nite's program just as I was watching a re-invigorated Monday Nite Raw.

Tucker starts off talking about how Europe a formerly highly advance continent has backslided into its feudal period. Why? Because of the insistence on eliminating fossil fuels and going into renewable energy.

Also that ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia isn't helping matters either. A nation like Germany is dependent upon Russian energy and well Germany like most "western" nations are opposed to Vladimir Putin's Russia. There lies part of the issue.

It causes me to worry that these progressives/liberals/leftists want this uncertainty here. That even includes Mr. Sold his soul to become President finally "Let's go Brandon". I saw Tucker's guest after this segment and we haven't built a new oil refinery since the 1970s and he cut off the Keystone pipeline. Let's go Brandon had effective screwed the nation.

Stossel: The real reason for record gas prices

[VIDEO] Well John Stossel explains this at great lengths, however, the more simplistic answer that I give is that the progressives want us to give up our gas cars for the sake of climate change and force us to buy electric vehicles. I have experienced the thought process of building an oil pipeline is harmful to the environment although what Stossel discusses is how energy companies try to drill without much impact to the environment.

Ben Shapiro: Here's why Biden is to blame for insanely high gas prices

[VIDEO] Ah the latest news out of the Biden administration gas prices. You want to go to work or even just go to the store and buy food it costs more to fuel your car to do that. Expect to put your money on an electrical vehicle as that's what the left wants you to do. Fossil fuels are bad for the environment so we don't even want you to have that choice.

Just recently I put $97 of gas into my vehicle. I've never seen it go that high. We can couple the energy policy of Let's go Brandon with the volatility of the Russia situation as they have their own oil on the market. This situation was needless, however, the green new deal/climate change crowd insists on their way and say we need to elimate all fossil fuels and make everyone buy an electric car....

Seems like such a bad economic idea to limit options because you only want one....

O'Reilly calls for hiatus from "Green New Deal" in face of possible World War

[VIDEO] Well I'll take a hiatus from Green New Deal, wokeness, pandemic, etc if we had to be ready for a World War. We have a very weak administration in office and sadly a very dangerous head of state willing to plunge the world order into chaos.

I mean Russia has taken Chernobyl. Do you know what happened there? A serious nuclear accident and they took it! To think it started off with peacekeepers.

In the meanwhile in order to further embark on the Green New Deal we ended our own oil production. We went from being energy independent to energy dependent so that we can have a few more electric cars on our roads. Meanwhile Russia and China doesn't care about electric cars.

Ben Shapiro: Democrats celebrate gas prices going down by two pennies

[VIDEO] Heh! Hugh accomplishment I suppose. Just shows how much these green new dealers can relate to everyday people who still drive around in their combustion engine vehicles. We make them get electric vehicles to get to work or buy food and supplies. Please!

Just to show a graph from the DCCC

Tucker: Elites pushing 'green energy' are out of touch with America

[VIDEO] I'm shocked to find out that Texas of all places is experiencing some energy breakdowns due to the unusual cold weather down there. I saw the Tucker segment about this on the rebroadcast and former TX Governor and Energy Secretary Rick Perry his hometown is the same latitude as Houston, TX and it's 9° Fahrenheit. Can you imagine it being 9°F in Texas?

No sir! Definitely not myself!

At the end of Tucker's interview the memorable quote are those who advocate for the Green New Deal and the short-sightedness of their solutions to the issue of global warming is to stay in their gender study departments. They need to stay away from America's power grids.... I had to chuckle.

Bottom line why should we experience California's rolling blackouts - and I suppose the progressives there believe in solving the issues of climate change. We have to consider people will be very hot in the summer as in some parts of America some people are very cold. You don't want too many people to be adversely affected by extreme weather conditions? Insure they have the ability to cool or warm their residences.

That means we can't only rely on solar power and windmills for power. If it means we need coal, nuclear - which is clear though I know people are uncomfortable with the radiation, or even as mentioned by Rick Perry natural gas. Back-ups, upon back-ups, upon back-ups. Does it not make sense?

Yes I know there was a debate earlier tonite!

[VIDEO] Well Joe Biden made note of a green new deal and how so many jobs would be created only to turn around and say he doesn't support it. Meanwhile what if California's attempt to combat climate change became part of this green new deal.

I've already noted some pieces which noted some satire and some real life reasons why the Sunshine State is having some issues although there is now an executive order there to ban internal combustion engines there in about 15 years.

BTW, California is promoting using solar and wind mostly instead of using nuclear power or coal. That makes electricity a lot less reliable and very expensive.

When satire meets reality...

I found this first piece at Instapundit where Ed Driscoll refers to Babylon Bee as America's Newspaper of Record. lol

Via Babylon Bee:

Gavin Newsom, governor of the state with the highest people-to-electricity ratio in the nation, banned gasoline cars yesterday via executive order. The order takes effect in 2035, meaning by that time, everyone in the state with no electricity will only be able to plug in their cars to the power grid that does not work.

"Everyone, plug in those cars!" Newsom said proudly in a room lit only by candlelight, since, you know, the whole electricity thing. "Other states run on backward, outdated fossil fuels. We are the state of the future, so we will run solely on electricity. Which, you know, we're working on. We could have power by 2035. You never know."

There was an awkward silence.

"SCIENCE!" Newsom said, regaining his momentum and drawing applause from the reporters gathered.

However, in the real world it was announced:

As part of Climate Week 2020, California Governor Newsom today issued an executive order declaring the goal of eliminating fossil fuels from transportation, a sector that produces half of California’s toxic and greenhouse gas emissions. The order calls for ending all sales of new fossil-fuel-powered vehicles in the next fifteen years, and calls on various state agencies to begin formulating regulations and strategies, and identifying actions and investments, to create a “just transition” away from reliance on fossil fuels.

While it set goals – which Newsom acknowledged “are nothing more than dreams with deadlines” – the executive order leaves the details to be worked out by agencies equipped to do so. For example, the Air Resources Board is tasked with developing regulations and strategies to reach the zero-emission goals.

Why is the Babylon Bee making a joke of this:

According to Steve Berberich, CEO and President of the Cal ISO, there are three reasons that the state is seeing the rolling blackouts now. One reason: Abnormally high heat.

“I challenge the notion that this is normal summer heat,” Berberich said. “We haven’t seen heat like this since 2006. And in fact, Death Valley, a day or two ago, had the highest recorded temperature on Earth at 130 degrees.”

Another reason for the blackouts is the entire Western United States is seeing higher temperatures, which makes it difficult for California to import power.

Lastly, Berberich said California has fewer resources for power with coal power plants going offline.

I read somewhere that California is a trendsetter, sadly a trendsetter for bad policies...

Media Matters: Unelected Detroit Official Turns Off Power To "Send A Strong Message"

[VIDEO] This article I just ran across comes from this site Media Matters. I've heard of them over the years although I've never read them. They've often been attacked by members of the right wing for being very biased. Even though it's very clear where their political agenda is.

All the same if this story out of the Detroit is true then this is simply the height of arrogance. Why play games with people like that just because you can? Media Matters' point, that this subject wasn't heavily covered in the news and they're right it should be.

April Fools Comes Late to the Sloop?

April Fools Comes Late to the Sloop?

There's more about this at Curbed Chicago. It seems this was a hoax by a group with an agenda and they took aim at a company that owns a power plant that already operates in the city. A clean power ordinance was stalled recently in the Chicago City Council that would've forced this company to switch from coal to natural gas.

One way I suppose to at the very least bring attention to a subject. Although to be honest I know very little about whether or not coal or natural gas is much cleaner fuel.
