Up until the 1840s, the District of Columbia was a perfect square. The Washington, D.C. that we know about today lies within the state of Maryland, however, the city/county of Alexandria, Virginia was the other part of the square. In 1846, was the retrocession of the Alexandria area - the Virginia portion of D.C. back to the State of Virginia.

Allow me to further expand upon the brief mention from Tuesday of a candidate for a legislative seat in Virginia who was discovered to have an OnlyFans Chaturbate. I might have mistakenly believed that she had won her race for a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates.
Her name was Susanna Gibson and whatever material she and her husband produced was widely distributed to certainly Republican voters in District 57 which is near the city of Richmond, VA. It appears to have been a close election between the Democrat Gibson and her Republican opponent David Owen, however, as this report from a local TV station in Virginia the results are17,878 votes to 16,912 favoring Owen as of Wednesday. The District 57 House of Delegates race has since been called for Owen.
So this rather salacious scandal didn't have an overall effect over the Republicans gaining control over the Virginia State Legislature. Owen was smart not to make it an issue himself although the idea here for any candidates is to certainly keep your private life private. Of course find a better way to earn some extra money!
[VIDEO] We had some elections that amateur politicos had kept their eyes on. I didn't exactly watch network TV to follow the results. However once I saw the results for at least two races I've been hearing about it now causes questions about what the GOP is doing right now and what bodes for next year 2024.
In Virginia, Gov. Glenn Youngkin rode a bit of a wave to become the first GOP Governor elected since 2013. In fact he defeated a former VA Governor in Terry McAw.....McAuliff and what helped Youngkin's election was anger over Virgina school boards and how they strayed from the expectations of parents towards their children.
Alas on this past Tuesday, Gov. Youngkin who had hoped to secure a majority in the VA Legislature (General Assembly) in both houses only saw Democrats pick up seats in the house and secure a slim majority in the state Senate. So if the Governor wants to pass legislation to address abortion or further address the issues that helped him get elected in 2021 he's going to have a tougher time. And noted by Anthony Brian Logan above a candidate who caused a scandal for an OnlyFans page and not especially mentioned by ABL a transgender candidate was elected to the VA General Assembly.
Virginia is the bible belt, however, the most populous part of the state is in the north, the northern Virginia DC suburbs. The achillies heel of many Republicans trying to get elected in blue states and as it goes the most populous areas of even blue states are the major urban population centers. Here in Illinois that would be the Chicagoland area.
Anyway, in Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear defeated Attorney General Daniel Cameron. Is this a huge surprise? No. Daniel Cameron it was said had no real energy behind him and of course it's always difficult to defeat an incumbent and in the case of Gov. Beshear he's popular so of course the citizens of Kentucky would be happy to re-elect him absent a good reason to change course in the Governor's mansion in Frankfort.
For those of you who may not know who Attorney General Cameron is, he was involved in a decision to not further charge those Louisville, Kentucky police officers who were involved in a raid that shot & killed Breonna Taylor. I can't tell you if that was a factor in him losing this election though I'm sure for those who were following that case that was enough to NOT support Cameron.
And mentioned by ABL and not something I followed completely is abortion measures to the state constitution passing in Ohio. If the idea was to make abortion more of a right in the Buckeye State they had succeeded. I'm sure many celebrated the demise of Roe v. Wade the complications we have seen in 2022 and 2023.
It's a very polarizing issue and it's difficult to really win on it. The dividing lines are strong and it's very difficult to get past the argument of a woman's body therefore her right to choose. I do consider myself pro-life though with reasonable exceptions and I'm a long way from every banning it completely. I just often say life of the mother & rape or incest with in the case of minors parents must be notified. Unfortunately some are not even satisfied with that they might go further and say abortion up until 9 months which borders on infanticide IMO.
Difficult issue, however, the only thing I can say for the political side on this issue is how does a pro-life Republican win in a state (such as Illinois which does have a history of pro-choice Republican governors) where there is solid support for abortion rights. Again that's a very difficult issue though I've laid out a solution which I think is more than reasonable. However, obviously I've never ran a political race so I'm a long way from saying I know the winning message.
So again these are my takeaways on what happened Tuesday. And I almost forgot there was a Republican Presidential Debate on Wednesday and I hear Vivek Ramaswamy just owned that room. That young man had better run for something other than the presidency to keep his name out there!
[VIDEO] This aired on Tucker Carlson Tonite Tuesday nite. Basically Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis isn't the only Governor fighting against the lack of common sense progressive policies.
Believe it or not Democrats had dominated the state gov't of Virginia until Republicans swept the executive and legislative branches. And one of their acts was to adopt environmental standards similar to California's.

Imagine as is shown in the above clip charging stations for electric vehicles - and bear in mind California wants fossil fuel vehicles eliminated from their roads by 2035 - and these charging states are surrounding by homeless people. Oh I'm sorry unhoused individuals....
Anyway we're more concerned about climate change than potentially mentally ill people who are legit unable to adequately take care of themselves. And also could potentially harm others. There is a disconnect from what really matters in a society isn't it?
[VIDEO] The momentum began once former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said parents didn't have the right to tell schools what to teach their children. Conservative media took that and ran with it and it's safe to say McAwfu.....McAuliffe never recovered. The race tightened in the polls and ultimately Youngkin less than a week before election day was leading in polls.
The race was somewhat expected to be very tight and it was. Though by my eyes percentage wise (that rhymes) not that tight.
[VIDEO] Come next year there is a strong possibility that California Congressman Kevin McCarthy as the House Minority Leader could become the next Speaker of the House. He's speaking on today's election in Virginia and lauding the ability of Glenn Youngkin speaking to parents while his opponent Terry McAuliffe is only listen to his fellow politicians.
Also what caught my eye is even the Democrats are running against Biden. He's certainly the anti-Trump if you want to believe anti-effective.
[VIDEO] Who would have thought we'd hear from Voice of America on this blog. They talk about the developments regarding the gubernatorial election in Virginia.
McAuliffe was first elected Governor of Virginia in 2013 and in that year the President of the United States was Barack Obama and they were both Democrats. That's unusual as in Virginia usually the Governor's office party goes opposite of the current President.
And another thing about this race is that it might be a "bellwether" as far as where American could go in 2022. How might the balance of power in Congress could go? Perhaps how could other gubernatorial races could go around the country.
What happens in Virginia determines the strategy for next year. Election Day for Virginians is not that far away at this point!

And they didn't really talk about the Republican opponent Glenn Youngkin, he started talking about the man he replaced in the White House Donald Trump. This is how they want to frame next weeks gubernatorial election there McAwful vs Trump not Youngkin he's just an acolyte of the orange man.
Anyway let's go back to the title of that video above and the post. Why could the President be impeached? He won't enforce the border. He's derelict in the duty of maintaining the nation's borders from illegal immigrants wherever their origin.
And he says if Republicans likely take back Congress (that's House and Senate) next year they perhaps they can proceed accordingly. Democrats won't do it although the more Pres. Biden flounders with the American people the more they're at risk in the ballot box. We have time to see what happens and we can certainly start with the Virginia gubernatorial race.

Hard to believe these two gubernatorial races will be decided next Tuesday. We're in the homestretch and it turns out both races have become competitive.
Uhhhhhhhh I didn't realize former Virginia Gov. Douglas Wilder is still around. And he's not happy with what other Democrat Governor's of Virginia haven't done with that state's HBCUs.
One former Virginia Democratic governor is not happy with the Democrats who followed him in that office. But he has a kind word about Glenn Youngkin, the Republican hopeful now running for governor of the commonwealth.
“The inequities relative to Historically Black Colleges and Universities — HBCUs — in Virginia continue in 2021. Little, if anything, has ever been done by the state for Virginia Union, Hampton, and Virginia University of Lynchburg,” L. Douglas Wilderwrote in an essay published Saturday on his personal website.
Mr. Wilder, in office from 1990 to 1994, said he previously had contacted Rep. Bobby Scott, Virginia Democrat, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and a bipartisan group of legislative leaders in Richmond. He requested they allocate $50 million to each of the HBCUs from funds the commonwealth received through the American Rescue Plan Act.
There was no response. The campuses did not receive any portion of the $4.3 billion available to Virginia.
“When I watched Glenn Youngkin last evening commit to provide funding for all five of our HBCUs in any budget he submitted to the legislature if he were governor, it was historical. This is the first time any candidate for governor has made this public commitment,” Mr. Wilder wrote in his essay.
“Our HBCUs are subjected to disparate conditions and they deserve better. As I’ve stated, no Democrat can win a statewide election in Virginia without massive support from the black community; however, their needs continue to be ignored by those who purport to represent them,” the former governor said.
“The people are not stupid; they are voting on issues and for those who speak to the issues that impact their lives. Maybe Northam and McAuliffe will tell us why they have not supported our HBCUs. Stay tuned,” Mr. Wilder concluded.
Via Instapundit with another comment bipartisan support. And Youngkin has made the pledge why won't McAwful? Why did that governor who was caught in blackface never commit to that?
We're a lot closer to election day at this point. I don't know what the polls say.
[VIDEO] I wanted to share this video with you this evening. I have paid far more attention to the competitive election in the allegedly blue state of Virginia where the last time I checked polls the two major candidates in the race are in a dead heat.
But then who knew that a race coming up next month was very competitive in New Jersey. I say Virginia is allegedly a blue state because I'm led to believe its in fact a deep purple. And at that some issues have emerged that could keep a former governor seeking his old office after four years from ultimately regaining it. That includes the issues of coronavirus and parental issues with their local school boards.
Well the coronavirus mitigations at the local school district level had been discussed over time depending upon who you follow in the news. School want to stay closed while parents insist they must reopen. Far more recently a father was being harassed and recorded being tackled by police due to school board inaction to a sexual assault on his daughter. On FOX News especially this father has been interviewed and expressing his frustration with this process.
Aside from those issues now we go to New Jersey another solidly blue state that since the start of this pandemic also have been in the news for their mitigation policies. And it's shocking to find out that in a state that generally votes Democrat - even after two terms of a very vocal Republican governor - is willing to consider another Republican.
Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy is in a competitive race with Republican Jack Ciattarelli. The most recent poll from Emerson College shows it within 6% in favor of Murphy. While New Jersey is considered a solidly blue state federally it's amazing that a Republican can compete statewide. Murphy could well be re-elected as much as the Republican could very well lose in Virginia and were not that far away from election day at this point.
However, I'm sure the political class are keeping an eye on these two states and especially Virginia as we do have a midterm election next year. With the President's polling starting to go downwards losing both Virginia and New Jersey could be momentum for a Republican wave in Congress.
Time will tell on this as a lot could change but who knows find the right candidates run them in the races they can win. The Biden/Harris administration could continue to struggle which could be a drag on Democrats down the ballot. We shall see!
[VIDEO] I've been hearing about this interview former VA Gov. Terry McAuliffe (or is it McAwful) walked off on this interview with a local TV station in Virginia. I just fast forwarded to the end of this 11 minute video and saw him as the reporter Nick Minock. His final response before walking off was to attack his Republican opponent Glenn Youngkin who he says will ban abortion and compares him to Trump.
According to Politico a day ago a Monmouth University poll has the race at a tie 46-46:
The poll shows both men with 46 percent support among registered voters. McAuliffe has lost ground since the last poll from the university in September, in which he held a narrow, 5-point lead. Two percent of voters prefer another candidate, and 7 percent are undecided.
Various modeling of the potential electorate from the pollster found anywhere from a 3-point lead for the former governor to a 3-point lead for Youngkin, a first-time candidate and private equity executive, the first time he has had a lead in any of Monmouth’s modeling in the state.
The two men have seen their support flip among independent voters. Youngkin leads 48 percent to 39 percent in this month’s poll, compared to a 46 percent to 37 percent lead for McAuliffe in the September poll. Notably, McAuliffe’s lead among women has shrunk from a 14-point lead last month, down to a 4-point lead in the poll now.
“Suburban women, especially in Northern Virginia, have been crucial to the sizable victories Democrats have enjoyed in the commonwealth since 2017,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute, in a release accompanying the poll.
“However, their support is not registering at the same level this time around,” he continued. “This is due partly to a shift in key issues important to these voters and partly to dampened enthusiasm among the party faithful.”
Could this be a sign for the 2022 midterms?
And I think McAuliffe is running for his old office again after waiting out a four year term with the office being held by Gov. Ralph Northam he's been rattled by the dynamics of this race.
[VIDEO] Well, I wanted to take the remainder of Indigenous People/Columbus Day off from this blog. However, it was also necessary to offer this further coverage of what happened with Terry McAuliffe (or is it McAwful?) trying to evade the question from a Black anchorwoman in Virgina with regards to critical race theory (CRT). As you saw below and as you see from Bill O'Reilly the question about defining CRT to McAuliffe - who was formerly Virginia's Governor from 2014 to 2018 - his response to is was to say it was racist to ask.
Hmmm this was his answer to a Black anchorwoman at a TV station in Virginia. McAuliffe didn't want to answer, he didn't want to touch this and you saw that in the earlier post today.
O'Reilly goes further to say that McAuliffe is going to lose in Virginia. Youngkin the Republican candidate is the likely victor. However I don't keep track of polling, but when I had been aware of polling the race is often portrayed as very close. Usually with McAuliffe with a very tight lead. Though we have less than a month to go before Virginians go to the polls.
Oh wait we're still in a pandemic so perhaps Virginia might be heaving on mail-in voting. And that's something we will need to reign in unless someone finds a way to pull out the negative racial component to that.
Another buzzword we've been hearing since Biden took office, this idea of equity? What's equity? Well if equity means defining people by their racial background or skin color and go no further then equity isn't that much of a good thing.
Terry McAuliffe the former Governor of Virginia who is running for his old seat this year was queried about this by WAVY 10 news anchor Anita Blanton. She as a good journalist asked twice what is critical race theory (CRT) both times McAuliffe won't answer. And then he was asked a third time and he finally just said:
When Blanton pressed him on his definition of the term, though — and one would need a definition in order to prove it’s not taught in the state — McAuliffe again refused to provide one, repeating that it’s not relevant since it’s not taught.
Blanton continued to pry for a definition at which point McAuliffe explained to her “it’s racist, it’s a dogwhistle.”
“But if we don’t have a definition, how can we say it [discussion of critical race theory in the context of public schools] is racist?” asked an exasperated Blanton.
He doesn't want to touch this. Perhaps he knows this is a losing issue. The article I shared with you here mentioned that he was under fire for stating that he didn't think parents had the right to tell their public school districts what they can or can't teach. However parents are worried about the division creating by CRT. Separating Black students the victims from the white students the oppressors.

[VIDEO] As stated in a previous post about the 2021 Virginia Governor's race we're just about a month away from the election. Will former Gov. McAuliffe regain his former office for the next four years or will it be Republic Glenn Youngkin who reclaims the office for the Virginia Republican Party?
Red Eagle Politics takes a look at the early voting data. He claims that Youngkin is over performing. For the Republicans this race is winnable.
This was published there on Sept. 30, 2021 the latest poll in the governor's race even after the debate in which we got the soundbite from former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
The survey shows McAuliffe with 48 percent support among likely voters, compared with 41 percent for Youngkin. Nine percent said they are undecided ahead of the November race, for which early voting is already underway.
McAuliffe, who served as governor from 2014 to 2018, has a 50 percent approval rating, with 37 percent of likely voters disapproving of him. Youngkin’s favorability rating sits at 40 percent, while 41 percent of likely voters disapprove of him and 20 percent still don’t have an opinion.
Still, Republicans have an enthusiasm edge, with 43 percent of likely GOP voters saying they’re enthusiastic about voting compared to just 35 percent of Democrats.
The Wednesday poll shows little movement from the same survey in August, when McAuliffe had a 46-38 lead.
Well we're a month away from seeing what's going to happen in Virginia.
[VIDEO] In Virginia, the governor can't run for a second consecutive term. Basically governors of Virginia usually will only have one four year term and they must stand down to transition the office to a new governor. I believe this is the only state in the union where this is true as most states either allow a governor multiple terms with no limits or often a governor must stand down after two terms.
In 2021 in Virginia the matchup is Glenn Youngkin vs former VA Gov. Terry McAuliffe. Youngkin is a venture capitalist who was successful in securing the Republican nomination for VA Governor over the summer. Gov. McAuliffe who is known for his association with Bill & Hillary Clinton as well as being a one-time Chairman of the Democrat Nat'l Committee had formerly served as VA Governor from 2014 to 2018. As the Democrat nominee for Governor this year McAuliffe is seeking to regain his former office.
However, Red Eagle Politics discusses a poll from the University of Mary Washington that shows that this years VA Governor's race is beginning to tighten and potentially Youngkin could become the state 74th governor. Youngkin could become first Republican in eight years as the last one to hold the Governor's office there is Bob McDonnell.
However, the election is not until November so as we can expect things will change through election day. What's not lost upon me is that Viriginia is often portrayed as a state with a blue tint. Last year Virginians voted for Joe Biden for President and for Hillary Clinton in 2016. I've always thought of Virginia as a red state but they've shown that in national elections they will vote Democrat.
Instead of just declaring Virginia as a blue state I may well view them as more purple. All executive offices there are held by Democrats and that could change this year in the 2021 race, the Virginia state General Assembly is held by Democrats.
Part of the discussion you see above is even if Youngkin falls short in his race, could Republicans overcome the Democrat majority there. The edge for Democrats in the House of Delegates is 10 seats and the state Senate is 3 seats.
Well perhaps I shall revisit this race in November and see where the numbers lie in the Virginia General Assembly. We shall also see who might actually become Virginia's 74th Governor.
And let's not forget there is one more election this year in the state of New Jersey!
I heard about this on TV this week and this is a shame. How can we expect the nation to settle down if you don't want police to do their jobs? And at least the Police Chief of Portsmouth, Virginia was doing her job and enforcing the law sadly the city's leaders took her job away for doing so:
The chief of Portsmouth, Virginia, was fired Monday in what she suggested was a politically motivated move moments before criminal charges were dropped against a prominent state senator and several local Black leaders accused of conspiring to damage a Confederate statue during a protest this year.
The latest twist in the case involving state Sen. Louise Lucas, a high-ranking Democrat who is Virginia's most senior Black legislator, drew praise from members of her own party who condemned the charges. police.
Former Gov. Terry McAuliffe tweeted: "Our hero Louise Lucas and her fellow proud Portsmouth citizens deserve our admiration. Grateful this despicable political persecution is over."
Portsmouth police in August charged Lucas and 18 other plaintiffs, including a school board member and members of the local NAACP chapter and the public defender's office, with conspiracy to commit a felony and injury to a monument in excess of $1,000.
Lucas said in a statement Tuesday that the Portsmouth Police Department "made a mockery of the criminal justice system" by filing "obscure felony charges against me and other Portsmouth citizens and in so doing, they created a scandalous national embarrassment for our city."
So Chief Angela Green does her job in arresting a state senator for breaking the law and they fire her. And the Democrats seen to back the state senator who broke the law. Weird.
