Youngkin "clinched" the Governors office

[VIDEO] The momentum began once former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said parents didn't have the right to tell schools what to teach their children. Conservative media took that and ran with it and it's safe to say McAwfu.....McAuliffe never recovered. The race tightened in the polls and ultimately Youngkin less than a week before election day was leading in polls.

The race was somewhat expected to be very tight and it was. Though by my eyes percentage wise (that rhymes) not that tight.

From FiveThirtyEight
Just about 72,000 votes separates them which makes this very tight as far as not percentage but just total votes cast. But 51% to 49% and as happens with elections the counting still isn't over. Perhaps it'll get tighter however McAuliffe has conceded the race.

And a little after Youngkin's momentum started in Virginia conservative media placed their eyes on New Jersey. If Virginia is purple, N.J. is definitely a blue state and for most of the nite from what I can tell it went before I went to bed last nite Republican Jack Ciattarelli the man trying to knock off incumbent Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy was leading. However it tightened to the point where it appears at this moment Gov. Murphy has a very tight lead.
From FiveThirtyEight
Less than 7,000 separate Ciattarelli and Gov. Murphy. And only 85% of vote remains to be counted.

I don't have the patience to see the county map but seeing it on FOX News the counties that Murphy won in 2017 he lost. So something has changed in the last four years and it all goes back to "Brandon".

We've had a rough year since Brand......Biden became President. And last nite it definitely showed in the polls. McAuliffe's mistakes are his own but even he acknowledged what's going on in the White House isn't helping him.

Murphy should be a gimme but that race was tight, however, in his comments last nite to his supporters he said some things I wish politicians would focus on more. "Kitchen table" issues - fill up a gas tank, where am I going to find the next job, why are taxes so high, high crime, what's going on with our schools, etc. Just everyday issues that unfortunately is neglected by politicians as they chase the high minded issues as climate change or even dismissing America as an intolerant place.

I suspect most Americans don't care about getting an electric car or going green when it costs so much to go to work or buy groceries or even heating their homes when it gets cold. And Americans don't want to be told they're intolerant thought that's not to say we shouldn't call it out when it happens. I suspect Americans want positivity more than being talked down to or lectured.

Youngkin seized upon this and listened to the people and here's hoping that in Virginia he'll govern accordingly.

Perhaps later tonight I'll take a look at the elections in New York City and Atlanta. I wanted to see how those races went.

BTW, also last night in Virginia they elected their first Republican Black women to the office of Lt. Gov. Problem is for some reason she's being reported as the first Black elected statewide or to the office of Lt. Governor in Virginia. NO!

That distinct actually goes to former Governor of Virginia Douglas Wilder who was first elected to that post over thirty years ago and then later elected the first Black to the Governor's office there. The current Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax is Black and made the news himself because he was accused of a sexual assault while the current Gov. Ralph Northam was seen in photographs in Black face. Yeah that post went nutty quickly yeah I'll end it now.
