In the same vein as the Broken Heart of Roger's Park...

Visit What the Helen. A blog from the 46th Ward of Chicago. The ward of Ald. Helen Shiller, and they may have to change the name if she loses her bid for re-election next month. Either way it's a great blog. The subject matter is similar to another blog The Broken Heart of Roger's Park (BTW, I wrote about that blog here in August 2005.

The Broken Heart doesn't care much for Ald. Joe Moore (who's been responsible for the Big Box Ordinance and the Ban on Foie Gras) and What the Helen doesn't care much for Helen Shiller. It's great to see these blogs talk about the issues affect their communities and even highlight the short comings of their leaders. Alas it could be funny that once they get what they want (mainly the defeats of their loathsome incumbents) who knows what they'll be able to write about.

The same vein as BHRP, except ours is a bigger, bulging, engorged vein.

We're a bit more on the wild side over at What The Helen?!

If Helen is shown the door by voters in a few weeks, we will gladly shut down What The Helen?! Or, maybe we'll just leave it as is, a testament to future generations to not let your elected officials get away with the crap they have been getting away with forever.

We'll find some other evildoer, as GWB likes to call 'em, to menace and torment.

Or, if someone wants to pay us to menace and torment an evildoer of choice, we can be bought at a price, just like an Alderman.

The only difference is what we do is legal.

i am normally an anti-incumbent kind of guy,

but WhatTheHelen & BrokenHeart blogs are extremely negative. If you go through their posts, you wonder why they move dto their respective areas in the first place, and if they truly see anything there they like (other than when it involves the denigration of their alderman).

You talk aout the whitewashing of Chicago...they represent a political sprectrum end that doesn't care about what happens to their poor of their community (which is not very white). They don't offer solutions, especially for youth in the ward who are making something of themselves, but couldn't afford to live in the neighborhood if they wanted to spend their lives helping kids as teachers, social workers, etc.

As you have on the top, the NIV of Isaiah 1:17 says...

learn to do right!
Seek justice,
encourage the oppressed.
Defend the cause of the fatherless,
plead the case of the widow.

Their group does not respect the spirit of this verse. Read through the message board www.buenaparkneighbors.org, and number how many messages are about actions that fulfill this verse, andhow many are about

Fundementalists talk about how God destroyed 2 cities for sin...but they forget to mentioned that God destroyed the entire PLANET due to violence (Gen. 6:13), and that even if you don't committ it outright, you have if it's in your heart. Like Matthew 5:21-22 21"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' 22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother[b]will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,[c]' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Read it intensely, and tell if you do not see that kind of hate.

i urge you to re-consider your support of those blogs...they definitely have some use, but they can be very toxic to the soul.
