Twenty-Five Years Later

I cannot believe September 11, 2001, was twenty-five years ago.

One of the slogans of that period was “Never Forget.” What is sad is that a lot of us have. The phrase still gets said. The people it was supposed to name do not always travel with it.

@America on X

What I notice first, a day after the anniversary, is not only the forgetting. It is that we still hear people say we deserved it.

Deserved it. As if the people who went to work at the World Trade Center or the Pentagon, or the passengers on those four flights, had billed the country for something and the bill came due on a Tuesday morning. That is a horrendous thing to say about the dead. It is also a way of changing the subject from what happened to a running argument about everything America has ever done.

The attack had a source, a method, and a target. Those are not mysteries. Treating the day as a receipt for prior sins is a way of not looking at the people who were at their desks.

Wilson vs. the West’s Twin Threats: Progressives and Unassimilated Islam

Let’s start with who is Andrew Wilson. My A.I. assistant offers this brief insight:

Who is Andrew Wilson?

Andrew Wilson is a British-born cultural commentator, debater, and host of The Crucible — a platform where he tackles politics, faith, philosophy, and modern culture with sharp logic and unapologetic intensity. He’s gained a strong following online for his no-holds-barred debate style, especially in viral confrontations on topics like feminism, Islam, progressivism, Christianity, and masculinity.

Background and Rise

Wilson comes across as a thoughtful but fiery thinker shaped by personal trials and a return to Christian faith (influenced heavily by his wife). He’s known for blending deep reading in history, theology, and politics with quick-witted takedowns of bad arguments. His style mixes intellectual rigor with a willingness to call things as he sees them — which has made him both admired and polarizing.

Brief Synopsis of the Clip

In this 14-minute excerpt from his December 2025 appearance on the PBD Podcast, Andrew Wilson and Patrick Bet-David discuss which poses the bigger long-term threat to America and the West: progressive ideology or unassimilated Islamic immigration. Wilson argues the two forces are intertwined — progressives act as “useful idiots” by keeping immigration pathways open, which Muslims strategically exploit for demographic growth while rejecting progressive values like feminism and secular degeneracy in their own communities.

The clip features Wilson referencing long-term strategies (such as high birth rates, often summarized as “the woman’s womb” being the ultimate weapon) and tactical voting. It also includes segments where he deploys statistics on inbreeding (cousin marriages) in Muslim-majority countries versus Christian societies during a debate — an approach I find uncomfortable in group-IQ framing, but one he uses effectively to troll and challenge his opponents. Overall, it’s a direct, provocative exchange that gets to the core of assimilation, values, and civilizational questions.

Father Michael Pfleger and the Latest Allegation

Been a while since I’ve covered a local South Side story, but this one stands out.

Father Michael Pfleger, the longtime pastor of St. Sabina Catholic Church at 79th and Racine on Chicago’s South Side, is facing renewed scrutiny. This weekend, the Archdiocese of Chicago announced a new allegation of sexual abuse of a minor dating back decades. Pfleger has stepped aside from ministry during the investigation and strongly denies the claim, calling it “an absolute lie.”

He was previously removed over similar accusations but was reinstated after church reviews cleared him. These repeated claims deserve full transparency and due process.

Here's a story from our local NBC affiliate [VIDEO]

The Red-Green Alliance Explained

Danny Burmawi is a Jordanian-born author, analyst, and founder of the Ideological Defense Institute. Raised in a Muslim family, he converted to Christianity in 2007, which led him to leave Jordan. He spent about 15 years in Lebanon leading Christian organizations before moving to the United States in 2023 for advanced theological studies. His books, including Islam, Israel and the West, draw on personal experience and deep study of comparative religion and Middle East affairs.

In a recent video from Jeremy Boreing (formerly of The Daily Wire), Burmawi breaks down the tactical partnership often called the Red-Green Alliance — the cooperation between Marxists/communists and Islamists. The discussion is direct and revealing.

Watch the 11-minute clip here: [VIDEO]

The Tactical Nature of the Alliance

Burmawi explains that the alliance is not based on shared long-term goals but on a shared desire to dismantle the current Western system. Marxists seek to tear it down to build their utopia. Islamists aim to replace it with a caliphate under Allah’s rule. For now, they work together and “kick the can down the road” on who will dominate afterward — much like temporary wartime alliances in history.

He applies this to New York politician Zohran Mamdani, noting Mamdani’s Shia roots and family background, including his father’s writings that framed America critically. While Mamdani publicly supports progressive causes like LGBTQ issues and abortion, Burmawi argues these serve as “bones thrown to useful idiots.” The real priority remains advancing Islamic influence, using leftist coalitions as a vehicle for greater political power.

Pope Francis dies

At this point not exactly breaking news but shocking. He had recently emerged after some serious ailments over the past few months. Presided over Easter services at the Vatican and met with Vice President J.D. Vance and then the day after Easter we find out he's gone. Wow.

Vatican News:

At 9:45 AM, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, announced the death of Pope Francis from the Casa Santa Marta with these words:

"Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage, and universal love, especially in favor of the poorest and most marginalized. With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of the One and Triune God."

The Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, told journalists later on Monday that the late Pope's body could be transferred to St. Peter's Basilica on Wednesday morning, so that the faithful may pray before his mortal remains.

"The translation of the Holy Father's mortal remains to the Vatican Basilica, for the veneration of all the faithful, may take place on the morning of Wednesday, April 23, 2025, according to the arrangements that shall be determined and communicated tomorrow, following the first Congregation of the Cardinals," Mr. Bruni said.

What's a bit wild about this is I had 20 years ago also posted about the death of John Paul II. 20 years ago same month J.P. II had passed April 2nd as apposed to Francis on April 21. I find that interesting.

I don't recall writing much about the death of Pope Benedict - although he was pope emeritus at the time of his passing. He had in fact resigned the papacy in 2013 although I did share a post about Francis becoming the new pope.

I did find a post about Joe Biden (remember him?) not going to Benedict's funeral evidently by Benedict's own request.

Tucker Carlson: Transgenderism is America's fastest-growing religion

[VIDEO] I wanted to share this video from last nite's edition of Tucker Carlson Tonight.

Tucker considers those groups who support trans rights as the most dangerous extreme group in America. As you see in his monologue - the above video is quite glitchy to be honest so be aware if you want to watch - they have taken over churches, they're in gov't, and you might even say they're even in women's sports.

A question that Tucker Carlson seeks to answer is what is America's new religion. It's no longer Christianity, as you might see above some churches have even been co-opted by the "fringe". Some churches would pray for the victims, however. in the clip above you see one Christian minister refer to the Nashville mass shooter as a martyr or perhaps a victim themselves.

Now, let me state my position I believe people have the right to live their lives they see fit. A man wants to be a woman, I have to let them do them. I'm still trying to figure out what my life is, I don't have time nor the ability to tell others how to figure out their own.

But then this cultism mob-like thing that you will get a hint about in the video above. If you question them then they not only harass you, they also assault you. Basically you can't really challenge who they want to will themselves to be, I think that's a dangerous thing. Worst still amongst that group - I'm really not trying to paint a group of people with a broad brush - are mentally ill people who think it's OK to harm others as that person in Nashville had done that's even more dangerous.

Dangerous enough to call the group that harassed Riley Gaines - a former college athlete who has spoken out against biological men who identify as women competing in sports against biological women - the most dangerous extremist group in America.

The President not invited to the Pope Emeritus' funeral

As you know before the New Year, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI had passed away and he's being memorialized that is in Vatican City his body is put on public display. You know I should just see what the plans are leading up to his funeral.

Anyway I found out earlier today that the late Pope Emeritus had requested that President Joe Biden - himself a Catholic - didn't want our current President to come to his funeral. And the President had an answer or perhaps a non-answer with regards to that.

"The reason I'm not attending the funeral tomorrow is it would take an entourage of a thousand people to show up," Biden said. "We would move everything in the wrong direction."

The president also said "we would just get in the way" and added that Pope Benedict XVI was a "fine man."

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Tuesday that the U.S. ambassador to the Holy See, Joe Donnelly, would be representing the U.S. at the funeral.

New Year Renewal!

This year I've had religion on my mind a lot. I've been watching mostly Catholic church services via YouTube primarily the services at St. Sabina in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the south side.

I realize there are other Catholic churches I could follow online, however, I gravitated towards St. Sabina because aside from Cardinal Cupich, Father Michael Pfleger is the only Catholic priest of note in Chicago that I know of. And interestingly he was just reinstated to his duties at the St. Sabina Parish because he had been hit with abuse allegations which has been found to be unfounded.

Either way it's been on my mind since at least the fall and I had been looking not just at St. Sabina there is another south side Catholic church Our Lady of Africa I had been watching services there also. That is a bit more traditional compared to St. Sabina.

Now to be honest I'm not a church going man and I'm not always referring to my Bible at home often enough. Perhaps in 2023 that needs to change as I seek the one thing that never happened, I've never been baptized. I've never formally joined a church or declared my faith.

My experience with church going has largely been the Black church. I'm most familiar with the boisterousness of faith at the churches I've been to in my life. And the music, I've been to churches with not just an organist or even a choir they have a full band. I've seen people step and shout if they're feeling the service. And Christianity has developed a diversity of how people express their faith it's wonderful.

However once must find their way. I discovered this YouTube channel recently called the Black Catholic Chick and she talks about how she grew up Catholic attended Catholic schools and got away from the faith for a time. Then once she wanted to believe again she tried a "Black church" and found out that well she was more at home in a Catholic church.

Well great story, but that's not my story. My story is where would I feel at home. I suppose for rather superficial reasons I like to do things differently. Being Catholic is different, not necessarily the answer. Though I've come to recognize that quiet meditation as opposed to boisterousness is the right way to go for myself.

With that being said as we are approaching a new year on this day (tomorrow will be 2023) I think one resolution for the next year is to find my faith. Next year is a renewal in a number of ways, however, perhaps spirituality will be one renewal I will seek. So perhaps it's time to start reading and asking questions and getting the answers I need to make my own choices.

Perhaps you might be hearing the stories of a Black male convert to some denomination of Christianity.

Happy New Year!

ALSO, forgot to note this morning I woke up to the news that Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI - he resigned the papacy in 2013 - had passed away. He was said to be battling illness and the news had seemed to be pointing that he was at the end of his life sadly. In fact he was the first Pope that I had seen installed as he succeeded Pope John Paul II in 2005. And of course his current successor is the currently serving Pope Francis.

#Tucker: Churches in Canada burns as PM Trudeau looks on

[VIDEO] One of my favorite YouTubers on IG took aim at Tucker Carlson's segment on a BLM Utah chapter (see the post below) who stated that the American flag is a racist symbol on another nite Tucker takes aim at burning churches in Canada.

I wrote a tweet mentioning Black churches and deleted it believing it was in poor taste. Now a burning Black church would get our attention here in America as it could be considered a hate crime. Historically targeting a Black church has been cloaked in racist intention.

Now however when we talk about burning churches in Canada no less - our friendly personable neighborhoods in the Great White North - Tucker takes a look at the political implications. And the tweet about Black churches was replaced by this.

Ahh, this is what it's about is it. The so-called - and by myself anyway - progressive left liberals don't like organized religion. Actually they don't like Christianity as it represents "whiteness". I've ran into a few online no less who believes burning a church is OK.

Tucker shows tweets from a few in Canada's gov't who seem generally supportive of this destruction. One tweet came from a member of a Canadian civil liberties group who says burn it all down (tweet has since been taken down and account private). I couldn't find yet the other tweet mentioned in the above video from Gerald Butts who Tucker calls a close confidant to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, however this one is even better.
Wait! I got some research to do. These destroyed churches or Indigenous Canadian churhes. So these arsonists are going to these indigenous communities (think either American Indian or Native American - or the very first Americans from whom Europeans stole the new world from) are destroying these churches.

And the best that Butts can offer is it's understandable that someone would want to burn a church? Really? Aren't the progressive left liberals concerned about people's rights? Perhaps they're not concerned about the right to worship as they please.

Also the response by the Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau was to only say this wasn't the way to go. Which is hardly a strong condemnation.

This seems like "wokeness" run amok, however, I don't have much information to go on. As a man who rarely attends church services anyway I believe people have the right to worship as they please and strongly condemn any arson on a religious structure. This should be condemned as an other God-given right is threatened.

Billy Graham RIP

[VIDEO] I had to tweet out about any negatives being said about the famed evangelist who died on Wednesday at 99 years of age. He's been considered a racist which if I believe his wiki profile is baloney - especially if he wanted integrated revivals and bailed out civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King. Then of course comes out that he's homophobic, anti-semitic, or even xenophobic.

Unfortunately all these opinions and other negative ideas people seem to hold about America - or their fellow Americans for that matter - were out in force on social media yesterday. You can check out this article from the Daily Dot to see what people wrote about on Twitter following Graham's death.

Here's a tweet that shows some other things that people could attack Graham for. Of course for most of them I might not really be harsh about. I may not like a minister who makes a living off of the faith of his congregation, however, what does one do when their ministry just grows. Of course I do sometimes wish for less of an integration so to speak between religion and politics.
Here's another tweet shared yesterday where I share Graham's wiki page that shows in the intro that he wanted integrated revivals and bailed out Dr. King during his civil rights activism.
Beyond all this Graham was blessed and I hope he does get to ask that higher power, why was he blessed with the gifts that he used through his life. Perhaps that should be the questions we all ask.

Americans growing less religious

I'm not a very religious man, in spite of the sub-header for the blog. This scripture you see up top was found during a bible study and to be honest I haven't picked up a bible again since. Of course this isn't to say I don't believe in a God at all.

In spite of this I truly believe Americans should be able to practice the religion of their choice. That is one of the many things this country is all about right.

However, I understand via recent column that American's attendance at church is going downward. We're not attending church like we used to. Perhaps the activism of the faithful have turned off so many. Unfortunately another argument could be made here:
It’s important. It’s a confirmation of a line Ross Douthat had a year or so ago, telling the left that if they didn’t like the Religious Right, just wait until the see the Post-Religious Right. I’m getting anecdotal reports from readers and from acquaintances that young people with smartphones are not only streaming pornography, but also getting massive doses of political extremism on their devices. One source who sees the boys in his conservative Christian high school embracing white nationalism speculates that the megachurch Christianity of these high school seniors is not facing the reality of the world around us. If true, then the pastors and other religious authorities in these kids’ lives are simply not forming them as Christians to live in the post-Christian world that we have.
I don't consider myself a fan of the religious right. I accept their right to advocate for issues that are very important to them, however as time has gone on they are on the wrong side of these issues. In some respects I agreed with them, though never entirely lifted a find to forward their agenda. Although it seems there may be some progress on the issue of abortion for example.

As you will see in the piece linked above an increasing secularism is contributing to the ferocity of political battles in this nation. That is religion is seen as black & white, but the same could apply to politics. Various political issues could be seen in black and white.

Issues of civil rights, gay rights, abortion, universal healthcare, even immigration could be seen by either side in terms of black & white. No need to really consider the other side, this is the right thing no matter what and anyone against it is evil.

This may well be an ongoing on issue in years to come!

"Spotlight"

I have a knack lately for watching controversial films. Today I saw Spotlight about a team of investigative journalists looking into the many allegations of sexual misconduct with minors by priests. The movie had me groaning as far as the various allegations of the misconduct, but I only took it as something that happened between a minor and a priests.

I know of no one who had truly been abused as many young Catholic parishioners had. It somewhat doesn't help that I'm personally not Catholic. How would I have responded if my child had been abused sexually by a clergyman I thought I could trust.

We see how it was handled by many involved especially the victims. Many didn't want to acknowledge what happened and hadn't for many years afterwards. They weren't ready and if it involved their parents they probably didn't believe it either. Thankfully the work of an investigative journalist team exposed more than the Catholic Archdiocese of Boston was able to cover up.

Sometimes courageous people on a mission and willing to stand on their own can truly expose something very big. Unfortunately such people become a target in a variety of ways, but these individuals know something is going on and hopefully influence others to take a look.

Story about Indiana pizzeria fabricated out of nothing

I'm still attempting to get this story from Indiana and figure out what it's all about. I understand what it's attempting to do and recognize that the state is taking a beating for the law they just passed.

Then I saw this story yesterday that I see at Instapundit. So a pizzeria - owned by a Christian couple - was said to have utilized their rights to not cater gay weddings. They've never been asked to anyway and they didn't make any publicity. It becomes a story and then it became they don't want to serve gays & lesbians.

What happens in our time of instant communication is that things get blown out of proportion. The couple are in the wrong business if they want to not serve a certain segment of the population which could be gay or black or Hispanic...etc. Unfortunately they said this in relation to this law out of Indiana.

Well wherever the truth lies in what the media from this news station in Indiana and the blow up on social media needless to say it had become a major fire. This pizzeria could suffer and some dumb things have been said. All I can say is let those people have their opinions and let's not allow our passions to get too high.

Today's Easter weekend message: "That's My King!"

[VIDEO] Since it's now Easter weekend perhaps it's appropriate to show an religious message. This video I got wind of via Mancow's radio show is an edited clip of a sermon delivered by Dr. S.M. Lockridge. It was certainly a great message and caught my attention when I saw it on TV - Mancow had a daily simulcast on local TV of his radio show.

In any event inspite of the bible quote you see in the subtitle above, this is a long way from a religious blog. Indeed I do not consider myself a religious person. However, just as easily as now I want to put more focus onto Cubs games, perhaps it's time to focus on doing religious things. Crack open a bible or go to church services.

Perhaps now is the time for that, again, in my life.

Also if you want to hear Dr. Lockridge's full sermon - apparently a whole hour - you can watch it here.I have yet to hear the full sermon, but hopefully it's as good as that 3 minute video you see above.

One last question in relation to this video: "Do you know him?"

Powerful presentations

[VIDEO] Last night expecting to find Hannity instead was a special program My Hope America featuring Billy Graham and some other individuals who offered testimony about their lives and ultimately their belief in God. It was a good program and very compelling and sadly was watching it while on the PC.

In spite of the bible verse you see at the top of this blog, this place is a long way from being religious. To be sure I believe in God, there are a lot of unproven ideas of how this universe came to be and can't believe a big-bang merely created this existence. In fact, perhaps it was merely a miracle.

Well, the presentation seen in Hannity's time slot was interesting and very positive. Americans ought to see people turn their lives around and not merely find success in their careers or whatever. We want to see them turn their lives around in other ways and that can include spiritually

If believing in a religion or a higher power gets you to a different level in your lives. If it takes you away from a life of crime or if it gets you out of bad relationships, that's very positive and very powerful. If it keeps you from making a drastic decision in your life that won't just change your life forever but those around you, a presentation like this is powerful.

I decided while playing on the PC to read up on Graham using good ole Wikipedia. I had little idea that he was in some ways involved in the Civil Rights Movement. He even had to bail brother Dr. Martin Luther King out of jail a few times. And on top of that started preaching revivals to integrated audience of Blacks & whites. Now I respect him more, because he too wanted an American of many people equal and preached to that America.

In writing this now I see why this aired Thursday night, Graham just celebrated his 95th birthday. Wow! Did faith allow him to become 95? And it seems he's still not slowing down, and will still preach the word even if it turns out he may have preached his final sermon.

Mary Mitchell: Black clergy hypocritical on same-sex marriage issue

Remember what was posted her last Friday about whether or not Black ministers are chasing the wrong issue with their opposition to gay marriage. Well Chicago Sun-Times columnist Mary Mitchell has her own take on this issue.
So I’m not impressed that a group calling itself the African American Clergy Coalition has geared up to battle a bill that would legalize gay marriage in Illinois.

The coalition is attempting to persuade 20 Black Caucus members, who may be the key to passage of the legislation, to vote against the measure.

The coalition, led by the Rev. James Meeks, has partnered with Cardinal Francis George to conduct an “aggressive street campaign” that includes robocalls to African-American households.

“It’s time for the church to wake up,” said Meeks, who also was a vocal opponent of same-sex marriages when he was a state senator.

But it seems hypocritical for black clergy to put this kind of energy into blocking people who want to get hitched legally while doing so little about the absence marriage in the communities where most of their congregants live.

To his credit, in 2010, Meeks challenged 25 unmarried couples in his church to take the plunge at his expense.

Unfortunately, marriage rates in the black community have been in decline for decades. In 2011, there was a lot of moaning and groaning when the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies found that only 52 percent of black women will marry by age 30. That means 48 percent of black women will sit out their prime childbearing years, or give birth without the support of a committed spouse. Today, 70 percent of black children are born outside of marriage.

Researchers blame a host of factors for black people not getting married, including high unemployment and their failure to inherit or accumulate wealth. Instead of marriage, a lot of people have serial relationships that may or may not involve cohabitation. The problems associated with these kinds of arrangements are well-documented. Children of unstable families are more likely to do poorly in school and end up in the criminal justice system.
Here's a real ball of fire thrown here!
Additionally, black clergy need to be careful about where they throw stones.

Despite the hostile attitudes they may encounter, there are gays and lesbians in the black church, and some of these young people are being victimized.

For instance, the black church was recently rocked when the pastor of one of the country’s largest megachurches was caught up in a gay sex scandal.

In 2010, five young men accused Bishop Eddie Long, of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, of lavishing them with gifts and coercing them into sex acts. Long admitted giving the gifts but denied engaging in sex with the men. The pastor settled the cases out of court.

Despite the settlement, one of the accusers, who said he was gay, released a tell-all book in February alleging that he and Long were in an abusive gay relationship.
OK, so the Black church should tackle the issues of out of wedlock births and the lack of commitment between men & women in Black communities instead of chasing down the issue of gay marriage. In addition, Mitchell is right, there are gays & lesbians who attend church on Sundays as well. Even worse we see an example of a sex scandal when it comes to a Black minister.

I generally don't support gay marriage although I do accept civil unions. At the same time gay marriage should be the least of our concerns. Besides if this is an issue that socially conservative people want to address then perhaps instead of focusing on gay marriage perhaps they should focus on the issue of why people are choosing not to get married.

Are Black ministers chasing after the wrong issue?

This is something I intend to post over at my other blog The Sixth Ward although at the suggestion of the other bloggers it was pushed back to much later.

As of late gay marriage is the debate of the moment. It has heated up even though we already have in this state civil unions for everybody. Still right now in spite of the many issues that are truly affecting this state such as its finances, crime, economy, etc. gay marriage seems to have the attention of our state's leadership.

I found this comment interesting this morning from a Tribune article found via Capitol Fax last Thursday. The underlying issue is gay marriage, however, there is a wrinkle in this as many of this state's Black legislators aren't yet on board:
"To be honest with you, it's a little disheartening," said Democratic Rep. Will Davis of Homewood, a black caucus member who has not made up his mind as he works out whether gay marriage is a moral or public policy issue.

"There are so many large-scale issues important to the black community, but you've never heard from them," Davis said of the churches opposed to gay marriage. "This doesn't create jobs. It doesn't create opportunities and, for the most part, they are silent on helping African-Americans getting job opportunities in this state. They are silent on the increasing prison population."
The second paragraph is worth some discussion. It could beg the question if you believe that Black churches should be taking a bigger role in helping Blacks get job opportunities or having a role with regards to the prison population such as keeping people out of jail.

On the other hand I'm sure many of you might disagree with Rep. Davis' statement above. Hopefully someone has something to say.

This is really old news but we have a new Pope!

[VIDEO]I'm two days late but hey better late than never. This blog was around when the now retired Pope Benedict was elected Bishop of Rome in 2005. He retired earlier this year and now the Roman Catholic Church and Vatican City now has a new leader and his name is Francis I.

BTW, in the speculation as to who will be the next Pope could be an America. Well this Pope is American, except he's from Argentina. Meaning he's from Latin America.

I do wonder from the time of the white smoke to the unveiling how long did it take for Francis to change from his regular Cardinal uniform to his Pope outfit?

OH NO! :o

Remind me when I have children or even grandchildren to either keep pictures like this to myself or not put myself in this position at all! A picture like this if shared online can certainly cause some headaches even if it was totally innocent. WOW!
