The President not invited to the Pope Emeritus' funeral

As you know before the New Year, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI had passed away and he's being memorialized that is in Vatican City his body is put on public display. You know I should just see what the plans are leading up to his funeral.

Anyway I found out earlier today that the late Pope Emeritus had requested that President Joe Biden - himself a Catholic - didn't want our current President to come to his funeral. And the President had an answer or perhaps a non-answer with regards to that.

"The reason I'm not attending the funeral tomorrow is it would take an entourage of a thousand people to show up," Biden said. "We would move everything in the wrong direction."

The president also said "we would just get in the way" and added that Pope Benedict XVI was a "fine man."

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Tuesday that the U.S. ambassador to the Holy See, Joe Donnelly, would be representing the U.S. at the funeral.
