Campaign 2026: Texas U.S. Senate

I want to discuss the entrance of Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett in the Texas US Senate race.

She's one of many prominent Democrats often noted by conservative commentators and even President Trump. She's dismissed as not being very bright - in spite of the fact that she holds a law degree.

And while many on the right might dismiss this ad one thing I may add to this discussion is that whenever someone talks about you, one could read that as praise. Perhaps that was what Ms. Crockett was going for in her ad as she seeks another elected office. [VIDEO]

I suppose there is no issue with this ad on my end as she introduces herself to the voting public in Texas - she's said to be running against incumbent Texas Republican US Sen. Ted Cruz. She can play quotes of President Trump and treat this as praise. She's showing her opposition to the President.

On the other hand I do believe Bill O'Reilly as he opined on this ad, he doesn't view her as a legit problem solver. Matt Walsh discusses this ad and he sees her as nothing more than an influencer. She's not in Congress and likely won't go to the Senate to really do anything.

Stranger things can happen and I won't even pretend to know the voting habits of Texans. I'm thinking unless she can show why she'll better represent Texas in the United States Senate, her campaign won't likely grain traction. And she'll be out of Congress if she's committed to this run.

The floor is open to anyone that is able to say that Jasmine Crocket would make a great US Senator and also to know why she's should be elected to the Senate.

Timcast IRL: Dallas Mayor switches parties to become GOP

[VIDEO] Tim Pool discusses this news on his IRL podcast.

On Friday, Dallas, TX mayor Eric Johnson announced he was switching parties becoming a Republican and leaving the Democratic Party. He was just elected this year to a second term as Dallas Mayor having served since 2019. He used to be a Democrat member of the Texas legislature.

From Texas Tribune:

Over the course of his mayoral tenure, Johnson has enthusiastically backed anti-crime initiatives and developed a strong bond with Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia. He won reelection without opposition in May after sewing up the city’s business donor class, who often lean Republican, as well as the Dallas Police Association, the city’s police union.

“Mayors and other local elected officials have failed to make public safety a priority or to exercise fiscal restraint,” Johnson wrote in the op-ed. “Most of these local leaders are proud Democrats who view cities as laboratories for liberalism rather than as havens for opportunity and free enterprise.”

Mayor [Not Brandon] Johnson announced this in an WSJ OP-ED which will be posted here.

I suppose this does get my attention, however, Mayor [Not Brandon] Johnson is a mayor of a large Texas city which is a Democrat stronghold there are others in Texas of course such as Austin or Houston. He seems to anticipate that he may not run again for Mayor in 2027. And perhaps in that article there is speculation that he may seek a statewide office in Texas in the future.

You have to be a Democrat in a city like Dallas, however, you want to win statewide in Texas - perhaps for Governor or US Senate - your best bet is with an R by your name.

Johnson is young enough time will tell for him!

School shooting in Uvalde, Texas

[VIDEO] This incident was noted in the IL GOP gubernatorial candidate which aired on our local NBC affiliate this evening. Unfortunately there were some fatalities and I see the alleged gunman is killed and we're going to see some posturing in Washington, DC as a result (of course there will be posturing).

I wish there was an easy answer to preventing very mentally ill individuals from taking a gun and using it on innocent people. Kids shouldn't go to school and expect any harm to come to them from anyone.

Stories of Texans who lived through historic 2021 winter storm

[VIDEO] As this part of the country is bracing for more snow, we look back last year at a winter storm that took place in Texas. There were serious issues going on with their energy grid. Texans didn't have power and couldn't heat their homes. It's unbelievable that Texas could experience a hardship known only to those living in such exotic locales as Chicago, Illinois.

Donald Trump rally in Conroe, Texas

[VIDEO] One excerpt found via Newsmax shows the president commenting on the situation in Ukraine stating that before stopping the invasion of another nation we should really stop the invasion of America. He's specifically referring to the situation on the U.S./Mexican border. We're finding out that migrants are processed along the border and shipped off to places around America.

The President's main achievement in office was building the border wall and addressing the situation of illegal immigration. Once Biden took over the situation turned 180 degrees from what it was under Trump.

The former President's comments were made at a rally on Saturday nite during the Royal Rumble.

I'm glad that Texas hostage standoff is over...

It's not often I discuss a current event as it happens on a given day. After spending most of my day watching YouTube videos I switch on the news and find out about this hostage situation in Colleyville, Texas. Thankfully by the end of Saturday evening it's over a hostages at a synagogue down there are safe.

Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted about 9:35 p.m. that all hostages are safe and out of a Colleyville synagogue after a loud bang and gunfire were heard.

U.S. Rep. Beth Van Duyne told a Star-Telegram reporter in a text that the hostage-taker is dead.

A loud bang followed by what sounded like gunfire was heard about 9:12 p.m. Saturday outside the Colleyville synagogue where a hostage situation has been ongoing for hours.

Here's the tweet from TX Gov. Abbott. I'm glad that all individuals who were taken as hostages are safe.

The End: Is California Over?

[VIDEO] Been a while since I featured a video from Reason.tv and they talk about while California is in decline. A high standard of living due to taxes and environmental regulation as far as real estate or energy. Then we have the homeless crisis and perhaps the governing class showing no real interest in attempting to solving these issues. We also learned earlier this year that California will lose a congressional seat.

Meanwhile Texas and Florida are gaining population and gaining congressional seats. Did you know that by 2045, Texas could become the largest state in the union population wise. Texas will be where the opportunities are and so is Florida although you might have to worry about snow and hurricanes in both places. That's not to say California is all perfect but it does have generally nice weather.

As long as people leaving California don't bring some of their bad habits which turned California dreams into California nightmares. And we shall see what happens with the recall of Gov. Gavin Newsome, will the Golden State make a change this year as far as the leadership of their state?

CNBC: Is Texas becoming the new California?

[VIDEO] I'm watching this right now. My concern is that Californians will move to Texas in droves and bring their awful voting habits with them to fundamentally change the Texas spirit. I could see Texas turning into at the very least a more purple state especially with migration.

But then isn't that the stereotype? Progressive Californians bring their ideology with them everywhere they go and never connect that their ideology failed. They hold onto it and bring it with them not recognizing the shortcomings.

Of course this video may not discuss that much. It's a no brainer to compare the first and second top states in the Union. Two of the largest states one solidly blue the other solidly red and right now the solid red state of Texas is hot. California after being a hot state for so long is beginning to slow down a bit.

The 8 Bit Guy discusses weather in Texas

[VIDEO] The 8 Bit Guy is someone I follow on YouTube and he talks about the unprecedented blizzard that hit earlier this week and effectively shut Texas down. It's shocking to see his footage of bare shelves in the frozen section of his local supermarket. And he especially mentions the damage to his home.

No Deanna Troi just no

This post from Instapundit discusses Marina Sirtis - who played Deanna Troi from Star Trek: The Next Generation and I had a crush on that character - getting all political talking about the weather related issues in Texas. I'm disappointed....

ALWAYS!

Tucker: Elites pushing 'green energy' are out of touch with America

[VIDEO] I'm shocked to find out that Texas of all places is experiencing some energy breakdowns due to the unusual cold weather down there. I saw the Tucker segment about this on the rebroadcast and former TX Governor and Energy Secretary Rick Perry his hometown is the same latitude as Houston, TX and it's 9° Fahrenheit. Can you imagine it being 9°F in Texas?

No sir! Definitely not myself!

At the end of Tucker's interview the memorable quote are those who advocate for the Green New Deal and the short-sightedness of their solutions to the issue of global warming is to stay in their gender study departments. They need to stay away from America's power grids.... I had to chuckle.

Bottom line why should we experience California's rolling blackouts - and I suppose the progressives there believe in solving the issues of climate change. We have to consider people will be very hot in the summer as in some parts of America some people are very cold. You don't want too many people to be adversely affected by extreme weather conditions? Insure they have the ability to cool or warm their residences.

That means we can't only rely on solar power and windmills for power. If it means we need coal, nuclear - which is clear though I know people are uncomfortable with the radiation, or even as mentioned by Rick Perry natural gas. Back-ups, upon back-ups, upon back-ups. Does it not make sense?

#Texit

[VIDEO] Last month there was initial anger over the dismissal of a suit over the 2020 presidential race by the S.C.O.T.U.S. The chairman of the Texas Republican Party former Florida Congressman Allen West seemed to be calling for secession. It seems there is a segment of the Texas legislature looking into that as discussed by Liberal Hivemind

Perhaps a real America version of Brexit. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland had a vote in the last decade to secede from the European Union. They were still working on it as late as last month as far as how the UK will deal with the European Union.

Of course let me remind you the last time a US State attempted to secede from the Union it resulted in a war between the states, a Civil War. It was over sectional tensions that had existed long before the shots were fired on the US Army installation at Fort Sumter. Here's hoping that there is no secession and no more talk of Civil War. We're in a concerning situation anyway.

Timcast discusses Texas GOP calling for "secession"

[VIDEO] As Tim Pool discusses in the above video is the responses to the dismissal by the S.C.O.T.U.S. of the TX vs. PA lawsuit to overturn results in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Michigan. As I said last nite, it was very disheartening to hear the comments about taking up arms against the federal gov't or the republic is now dead. Just a very dim view of the future with a Biden/Harris administration holding the White House.

The most over the top response which is akin to taking up arms is a "civil war" or secession. Thankfully we're not essentially fight a war over slavery or over sectional issues. We seem very fractured politically and that's very unfortunate and likely heightened by the coronavirus pandemic. We probably were already there before that but it seems a lot of issues came out once our leaders decided on a course of mitigation efforts with stay at home orders, closing down "non-essential" businesses, etc.

I also want to share this with you as it pertains to this and I just retweeted this

24 states file brief against Texas lawsuit

 Among those 24 states, Illinois.

Via Legal Insurrection:

In the substance of the Brief, first there are the procedural arguments:

PA argues that SCOTUS should not exercise its discretion to accept “original jurisdiction” because core interests of Texas are not at issue, unlike a border or waterway dispute. Rather, the argument goes, Texas is seeking to protect the asserted rights of its citizens, and if SCOTUS expands its jurisdiction in that way, it will open the floodgates to making the rare exercise of SCOTUS original jurisdiction into a trial court for disputes between citizens of states, rather than states themselves.

Next, PA argues that Texas has no standing, because it has suffered no injury in fact; the way in which other states interpret their own laws and own constitutions is not a protected Texas interest. The personal interests of Texas citizens cannot be sued upon by the State of Texas.

PA - Pennsylvania is one of those states cited in the original brief that Texas had filed for the S.C.O.T.U.S. Either they reject this lawsuit and there's hardly anything else to be done at this point and likely Biden will definitely be sworn in as President in January. Or we might have ourselves another Bush v. Gore from 2000. Time will tell.

Right Angle: Bars Become Restaurants to Dodge Texas COVID-19 Closure Rules

[VIDEO] Scott Ott, Vodkapundit - Stephen Green, and Bill Whittle discuss some 'rona news out of Texas. Gov. Greg Abbott has begun to take this virus very seriously and it proved to be controversial last month when he provided guidance to encourage more Texas citizens to wear masks. A lot of proud Texans were already saying they weren't going to vote for him or even declared him a R.I.N.O.

Either way another wrinkle as the Lone Star State continues to battle daily cases, how does one determine what's a bar or restaurant. Ott, Green, and Whittle discuss this and it's amazing how well intended a law or order might be and it might prove advantageous for someone who wants to be able to conduct business.

We're in very unprecedented and challenging times unfortunately. Businesspeople have been forced to make major decisions as far as their livelihoods which includes following the laws of Texas. Many have been forced to shutter not only due to the 'rona, but due to the unprecedented unrest. What's been going on since March has been truly historic and definitely painful to many.

I can see the battle for individuals rights going on here. It's clear many of us don't want to wear a mask, however, we have this ongoing virus that isn't yet going away. And the main thing many of us are also concerned about our livelihoods, how do we make our income during a pandemic

What's going on in Austin, Texas

There's been a series of bombings going on down there. And is this "unabomber wannabe" targeting Black people?

Washington Post:
The two people killed in the explosions, a 39-year-old construction worker and a 17-year-old high school student, had relatives who were good friends and prominent members of Austin’s African American community, leading family members to speculate that they were targeted, perhaps in part because of their race.

But a victim in the third attack, the 75-year-old Hispanic woman, had no apparent connections to the other two. The woman, Esperanza Herrera, was visiting her mother’s house, and people familiar with the case said the package she picked up was addressed to a different home.

Investigators have been poring over the victims’ backgrounds and the construction of the bombs, hoping to find a clue that might lead them to the person or people responsible. The FBI sent behavioral profilers from Quantico, Va., as well as bomb technicians and evidence teams, said Christopher Combs, special agent in charge of the bureau’s San Antonio office.
Then this post where a blogger skewers CNN for only looking at the racial angle of this crime. Perhaps this bomber isn't just target Blacks, but then who is the target? A bomb killed an hispanic woman and the bomb was actually addressed to a different place. Then a recent bomb has actually killed some whites. So is this about race, or do we have a mad-man just looking for reasons to blow people up?

Via VictoryGirls.com:
CNN’s latest sad undertaking at tying violence to RAAAAAACISM in this dark age of Trump was quashed by actual facts, because the victims of Sunday’s explosions in Austin were white. But CNN is never one to let facts stand in the way of promoting Teh Narrative™, so it decided to run with the race angle anyway.

You see, a 75-year-old Hispanic woman opened one of the packages containing the explosives, and she was significantly injured. The other victims were black, causing certain concern trolls to do what concern trolls do: assume that the motivation of the perpetrator was racism…

…until yesterday, because the victims were white. But apparently CNN doesn’t consider white to be a race; nor do the highly educated and “woke” CNN journowhores believe whites can be victims of racism.
That link is via Instapundit.

All I can wonder is where does the truth lie?

VIDEO: Governor says tone of this President is troubling

[VIDEO] So I got wind of this video produced by the Republican Governor's Association back in February where Texas Gov. Rick Perry gave a talk about a number of subjects especially how states have interacted with this current President. As a matter of fact I found this video via CainTV which commented that Gov. Perry was discussing how President Obama threatened state governors.

While I recognize this is an old video, is this a recurring problem with the Obama administration and especially the President himself?

Texas Judge resigns after being caught texting instructions to prosecutors to help win convictions

As it turns out this was an old story from last October and I just got wind of it this morning, here's the jist:
Texas district Judge Elizabeth E. Coker is stepping down from the bench after being caught engaging in a massive perversion of justice. A whistleblower revealed that Corker was sending text messages to prosecutors with suggestions on questions to ask in court in order to secure a conviction.
How many retrials would we see as a result? Also I wonder how many people when they hear about this believe that SHE should be sent to jail for her improprieties?

Another odd court system related case from Texas and more recent, it involves a man who has paid too much child support to his child. He does what a man should do for his children and gets punished. A bit odd I think.

Texas is coming for Illinois...

Recently followers of Illinois' political scene discovered that Texas Gov. Rick Perry is attempting to poach businesses from this state. He even has an ad for his efforts. This poaching as other Republican governors from mainly Wisconsin and New Jersey have also came knocking on the door of this state seeking to bring businesses from this state to their state.

You know sometimes I like to point out that in the case of Wisconsin a small bank from Milwaukee was essentially taken over by another small bank from this state. Granted these are black-owned banks we're talking about that devoured each other that is one bank failed and the other bank purchased most of that bank's assets still score one for Illinois!

In any event, it's great to see some of the state's leaders speaking against Gov. Perry. Most of us aren't likely impressed with our Governor's response to this. However, the best response to Perry comes from our embattled state GOP Chairman:
llinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady said he’d welcome Perry if he wanted to offer support to Republican gubernatorial candidates. But a recruiting trip, he can do without.

“I like Gov. Perry, he’s been a good leader for Texas, but I don’t think it’s productive for him to come in here and do this so publicly,” Brady said. “Stealing jobs from Illinois is not going to help.”

If Perry’s strategy is in part political, Brady said, it’s not a good one.

“I don’t think it’s a great way to impress Republican donors,” Brady said, adding that even a harsh critic of Illinois’ current leadership like himself wants the state to succeed. “We live, work and pay taxes here.”
BTW, I say embattled because Brady successfully beat back a challenge to his leadership of the state GOP. However that doesn't mean that at some point Brady won't be forced to step down in the near future.
