The Supreme Court issued its decision in Watson v. Republican National Committee (No. 24-1260) on June 29, 2026. In a 5-4 ruling authored by Justice Amy Coney Barrett (joined by Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson), the Court reversed the Fifth Circuit and held that federal election-day statutes do not preempt state laws allowing mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day to be received and counted a few days later.
Mississippi’s law (ballots received up to five business days after Election Day) survives. Similar grace periods in roughly a dozen other states, including California’s seven-day window, are now clearly on solid legal ground.

Spencer Pratt just dropped his concession video on his X/Twitter profile — classic reality-TV energy meets LA politics.
He’s out of the mayoral race after third place in the June 2 primary. No recount, no fraud challenge. Instead, he’s launching “Phase III” — a full-throated attack on Bass and Raman.
Key Points
Bass leads, Raman advances to November runoff.
Pratt calls out homelessness, crime, and city failures.
Teases bombshell recordings that could force one opponent to resign in shame.
Spencer Pratt held second place behind incumbent Mayor Karen Bass for most of the week after the June 2 primary. He lost that lead on Monday as more ballots were counted, with far-left City Council-member Nithya Raman surging ahead to claim the runoff spot.
(I like Council-member over the rather clunky Alderperson we sometimes hear in Chicago — yuck!)
Let’s be clear: Raman isn’t just a Democrat. She’s a Democratic Socialist. While I believe today’s Democratic Party have lost their minds, there’s an important distinction here. We’re not talking about your average, everyday Democrat.
From what I’ve seen, Pratt ran on straightforward common sense and actually fixing LA’s problems. I only started following this race closely in the last month — right in the weeks leading up to Tuesday’s primary. Realistically, was he going to win the mayor’s office? No. But his performance sent a clear message.
In 2022, Los Angeles voters chose incumbent Mayor Karen Bass over billionaire real estate developer Rick Caruso. Caruso didn’t run again this cycle, which opened the door for Pratt. The Jersey Shore reality TV star may be best known for his bold persona, but his campaign reflected real anger over the city’s leadership — especially after the devastating wildfires, when Mayor Bass was overseas in Africa.
I have to share this raw IG video from Doug Ellin, the creator and producer of the HBO series Entourage. He posted it just a week before the election. Ellin is clearly fed up and tired of being gaslit by local media. He openly laments how LA voters chose Bass over Caruso four years ago.
Bill O'Reilly recently broke down the latest developments in California politics on his No Spin News. The segment covers primary election results and what they might mean for the state's future.
Spencer Pratt, the former The Hills star once known as reality TV’s ultimate villain, joined Joe Rogan for a candid, no-holds-barred conversation back on April 15, 2026. In the episode (JRE #2483), Pratt explains why he’s running for Mayor of Los Angeles, shares the personal tragedy that pushed him into politics, and delivers sharp criticism of the city’s current leadership. With the LA mayoral primary election happening tomorrow, June 2, this discussion feels more relevant than ever.
Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco joined Patrick Bet-David on the PBD Podcast (#808) for a candid discussion about California’s 2026 gubernatorial race. As a Republican candidate with a strong law enforcement background, Bianco pulled no punches on the state’s crises, his primary rivals, and the failures of Democratic leadership—particularly under Governor Gavin Newsom.
Last week PBD hosted Republican Steve Hilton one of the two leading candidates for California governor. This week, we get the other prominent Republican in the mix: Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco.
With the June 2, 2026 jungle primary fast approaching, this race is heating up. I’m embedding the full interview with Sheriff Bianco below. If you’re up early or following the blog, this is a good one to watch when it drops. [VIDEO]
Steve Hilton is one of two prominent Republican candidates for Governor of California, alongside Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco. With the jungle primary set for June 2, 2026, there had been serious discussion on the right about the possibility of two Republicans advancing to the November general election.
On the PBD Podcast this week, Hilton broke down the latest polling — showing him narrowly leading or tied near the top — and warned about the real risk that two Democrats could squeeze into the top two spots. That outcome would shield lame-duck Governor Gavin Newsom from full accountability for the state’s failures. He even suggested Sheriff Bianco should consider dropping out to consolidate the Republican vote and prevent a Democrat-only general election.
Hilton is an unusual figure in this race. A former Fox News host of The Next Revolution, he previously served as a top political strategist and aide to former UK Prime Minister David Cameron. He moved to the United States in 2012 and became a citizen. He has cited a major falling out with Cameron over immigration policy — an issue the UK continues to grapple with.
Now a recent immigrant from England, Hilton is running to lead the Golden State. California has elected an Austrian-born movie star with a thick accent as Governor — so why not a sharp-minded Englishman with a concrete plan to fix the mess? I could get behind that.
I find the California Governor's race very interesting. We have a jungle primary (or top-two primary) which means of the candidates who are running in the primary only two - regardless of their party - will make it to the general election in November.
The polls so far show that two Republicans may be the top two in November Sheriff Chad Bianco and former British political strategist and former FOX News host Steve Hilton. And all the Democrats which include former Congressmember Katie Porter and formerly included former Congressmember Eric Swawell who was forced to withdraw and resign from Congress.
Katie Porter is the subject of the below video from Adam Carolla's podcast. There was an ad that made that made her look a bit more reasonable or relatable. However, she still does have the reputation of an explosive temper. Check out what Adam's talking about below [VIDEO]
Amazing CNN is broadcasting the California Governor's debate! Now more of us gets to see the Democrats go after each other and the two Republicans get by unscathed. And we see Katie Porter try to say don't question her temperament.
I've been watching a lot of the candidates go back and forth whether in interviews or in debates. There are a few Democrats that are saying some reasonable things. Especially the Mayor of San Jose Eric Mahan. Based on some of the things that he's saying I could trust him to actually run California.
I don't know about the odds of Hilton and Bianco to get in the top-two. And worse still California is so far off the rails if either of them gets elected they may immediately face a recall. I hope not though.
I hope everyday Californians are ready for normal. And that might mean they might have to shut out Democrats for a time.
And if I may add with the fall-out from the misadministration after the wildfires in California last year I think the LA Mayoral race could be interesting. A Republican named Spencer Pratt has been making some good noise in his race against the seemingly clueless incumbent Karen Bass though time will tell if the residents of the City of Angels Brotherly Love is ready for yet another Republican in over 30 years to take command of America's 2nd largest city.
I do hope Californians are ready for a real change in the nation's most populous state also.
[VIDEO] California had a chance to recall this guy and voters there seemed more concerned about a potential Trumpist becoming Governor. Gavin Newsom blames the exodus in 2021 from California on visa policies on the Trump administration. Hmmm so American citizens need visas to go to other American states or he really likes having an open border and letting anyone into the country. And by extension these immigrants can come into his state....
[VIDEO] The sit-down with Mike Netter who organized the recall against Calif. Gov. Gavin Newsom. And then of course reference to this year's attempt to recall LA District Attorney George Gascon which failed.
A few takeaways with this is that, there is a will as opposed to money. That is passion and being in tuned with the issues and the situation is what helps push these initiatives forward. Alas the political establishment who seems OK with high crime and a bad standard of living for everyday people seem to be winning right now.
[VIDEO] Ben Shapiro took himself, his family, and his company Daily Wire out of California and moved to Tennessee & Florida. He discusses the current news which includes rolling blackouts amid a heatwave while Gavin Newsom addresses the crisis in a fleece sweater. And think about the fact that they want to ban all fossil fueled vehicles in the Golden State.
Oh yeah these green policies to fight climate change they're working so well to address the needs of everyday people. Perhaps this was never to serve everyone, but we're seeing the folly of a strict adherence to an ideology. In this case climate change is an ideology.
[VIDEO] This aired on Tucker Carlson Tonite Tuesday nite. Basically Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis isn't the only Governor fighting against the lack of common sense progressive policies.
Believe it or not Democrats had dominated the state gov't of Virginia until Republicans swept the executive and legislative branches. And one of their acts was to adopt environmental standards similar to California's.
Tucker speaking with Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin. Imagine as is shown in the above clip charging stations for electric vehicles - and bear in mind California wants fossil fuel vehicles eliminated from their roads by 2035 - and these charging states are surrounding by homeless people. Oh I'm sorry unhoused individuals....
Anyway we're more concerned about climate change than potentially mentally ill people who are legit unable to adequately take care of themselves. And also could potentially harm others. There is a disconnect from what really matters in a society isn't it?
[VIDEO] Adam Carolla speaks with Dave Rubin about his 8 year old interview with Gavin Newsome. Newsome at that point in time was Lt. Gov. of California, he only ascended to the Governor's office in 2019. So to Carolla this was a guy who wasn't ready to be Governor let alone President especially when it definitely becomes apparent that Joe Biden won't be able to do it again. He had no answers just scenarios that are likely improbable.
Last year Californians kept Newsome in office to keep that Black white supremacist Larry Elder who'd have left the Golden State in better shape than Gov. Newsome has so far....
Oh and I found one clip of him going after then Lt. Gov. Newsome he was on top of him and it didn't stop his ascent!
[VIDEO] I didn't subscribe to his channel until recently when doing I saw his most recent trip to Germany where he visit Elvis Presley's home when he was in the U.S. Army stationed there.
He's done recently videos on the newly reopened 6th Street viaduct bridge in Los Angeles, California noting cars doing donuts on it. Wait something like that made the news here in Chicago, except it was in the middle of an intersection late at nite near downtown.
In any event in this video you see above the City of Los Angeles is trying to abate that problem by putting up little porcelain dividers in the middle of the bridge. Those little yellow objects might not stop a car, but it would be as easy as it had been to do donuts. In fact hopefully you're a good driver and know how to avoid them.
Just found this interesting and wanted to share this with you.
And wait haven't I heard about this bridge in a song: I Love L.A. Well perhaps not specifically the bridge. :P
[VIDEO] Bill O'Reilly discussed this on his program last week and it seems San Francisco is taking back their city. Chesa Boudin will be replaced as soon as the recent recall election, well Proposition H is certified. Mayor London Breed will install an interim prosecutor.
Now if only we could do that here in Cook County...🤷
[VIDEO] Well we hear the truth of what Californians think of their former District Attorney, Attorney General and US Senator now Vice President of the United States. According to Republican State Sen. Melissa Melendez Californians aren't that impressed with her, yet she with Joe Biden are at the top of the mountain in American politics. Something got screwed up here....
[VIDEO] While the situation continues to develop in Ukraine as I see that Russian forces are attacking Europe's largest nuclear plant there let's come back home for a moment.
In conservative circles we hear so much about how San Francisco residents recalled three members of their board of education. They got tired of the issue being rename schools on a woke basis instead of working on returning kids to school. I like the idea of bringing back common sense instead of unworkable wokeness that defies logic. Larry Elder discusses this further.
In this case here's a lesson for conservatives. Move where you want but be very concerned about what goes on in your city hall or school board. It seems the hot button battles of this cultural war will in fact be fought in those local venues.
And besides as Chicago will eventually get an elected school board this will be another local venue to fight the cultural war as well. I hope parents will use their votes wisely for school board, the children are counting on it.
[VIDEO] O'Reilly discusses a bill going through the California legislature on January 6th called Cal-Care that prososes that the Golden State will take over all healthcare in the state. Now how in the world will they pay for this?
[VIDEO] This is Larry Elder's first video in about a month. Last month Elder was a candidate in the recall election which failed to dislodge Gov. Gavin Newsom from power in California. He talks about what that recall election failed. And he starts off boiling it down to an SNL sketch which shows Jim Belushi pointing at someone in courtroom and yelling "WITCH!"
Noted was an attempted assault on Elder by some unhinged citizen wearing a pink haired gorilla mask, she was attempting to throw an egg at him - missed badly BTW. The video started off with him admonishing the LA Times editorial board for referring to him as a "blackface for white supremacy".
Now think about this in the last 20 years or longer California has gone increasingly Democrat. The witch quote I'm referring to is Elder's way of saying California Democrats just pointed to the fact that he was a right-wing Republican to convince the Democrat base to vote against recall. He noted that the abortion issue became a thing in this campaign.
