I didn’t follow the recent Florida primaries closely. Among other races, U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds won the Republican nomination for governor with about 48 percent in a crowded field. President Trump endorsed him early. Donalds is a Black Republican. If he wins in November, he would be the first Black Republican elected governor in American history. (During Reconstruction, P.B.S. Pinchback of Louisiana, a Republican, served briefly as acting governor after the sitting governor was impeached.) Florida is no longer a swing state. He is the heavy favorite against Democrat David Jolly, a former Republican congressman who switched parties.
He’s not the only Black Republican with a real shot this cycle. In Michigan, John James won the GOP nomination for governor. Michigan is more of a blue state than Florida, so his path is harder, but it’s a race worth watching.
What conservatives have been talking about this week is the Democratic Senate primary. This is a special election for the remainder of Marco Rubio’s term after he became Secretary of State. Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed former Attorney General Ashley Moody to the seat in January 2025. State Rep. Angie Nixon, a Jacksonville Democrat who joined the Democratic Socialists of America during the campaign, beat the well-funded former Army officer and national-security official Alexander Vindman. Vindman outraised her by a huge margin—roughly $16 million to under $1 million—and still lost. That tells you where the energy is on the Democratic side right now.
I’ve seen enough of Nixon’s clips to be tired of the act. Since the primary she’s tried to sound a little more moderate in interviews. So far it looks thin. Florida being as red as it is, she still has an uphill climb against Moody. Beating a better-funded, more “electable” candidate anyway shows the direction of the party’s base.
Nixon is not new to theatrical protest. In April, during the House vote on DeSantis’s mid-decade congressional maps, she marched the floor in a hot-pink jumpsuit with a matching pink bullhorn, shouting that the maps were “illegal” and a “violation of the Constitution.” The vote still passed 83-28. The House later reprimanded her. She and colleagues did a similar floor sit-in in 2022. Here’s one of the April clips: Fox News.
On Vindman: He was the National Security Council’s Ukraine director. He listened to the July 25, 2019, Trump-Zelensky call and later testified that Trump had improperly asked Ukraine to investigate the Bidens (and Burisma) in connection with a White House meeting and military aid. Vindman reported the call internally as improper; he brought his twin brother, Yevgeny (Eugene) Vindman, an NSC lawyer, along when he went to the NSC’s top counsel. Alexander became a central witness in the first impeachment. After the Senate acquitted Trump, both brothers were removed from the White House in February 2020. Eugene later won a House seat in Virginia in 2024.
Here's a report from FOX 35 Orlando [VIDEO]
I'm sharing this video from Ben Shapiro because I like the idea of bipartisanship. A Democrat defending a Republican Governor who appeared at a press conference regarding a shooting and there was about to be a protest. What this lady said with regards to bullets have no party I feel that.
Let's delve into it.
[VIDEO] This man I think is a future President he's doing such a bang up job down there in the Sunshine State. He might be the man who can beat Donald Trump for the GOP nomination. He is on the front lines fighting the wokeness in the gov't and education.
This is a very interesting one-hour discussion. How did DeSantis fight Disney? See DeSantis discuss a university down there in Florida that he helped to revamp into an effective school? Also DeSantis talks about revamping the Florida Supreme Court?
And when you think about that last question, it seems to mirror what Conservatives want to do with the US Supreme Court. Although state supreme courts are a bit different from the US Supreme Court. I presume in Florida they're generally elected that's not to say in mandatory retirements the Governor there can't appoint justices.
And Florida historically fell in line with other southern states that used to vote heavily Democratic. I suppose I never thought of that state as purple. Perhaps not a solid red state, but certainly not a blue state - unlike Georgia right now.
Ehh who am I kidding with that shot, I don't even think Georgia is a blue state, 2020 and 2022 is a fluke with those two US Senate seats.
Anyway, I should look at how Florida voted in Presidential races. Did they vote for Obama in 2008 & 2012? And I can say since Jeb Bush became governor in the late 1990s, a Republican have lead the state ever since.
[VIDEO] Wow! Some things I agree with from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis - hopefully the future President of the United States.
He talked a lot about his policies during the pandemic. He believed as I do, that we wouldn't have seen the unrest we did in 2020 if we had never locked people down. And that people going outside is not a bad thing.
Hmmm, on second thought I wish I could tell that to an older woman who stopped and turned away on a sidewalk as I had walked past with my facemask off. 🤷
Anyway he's showing in his chat with Ben Shapiro why Donald Trump be damned, he needs to succeed Joe Biden in 2025. DeSantis '24!
[VIDEO] As we should've learned from this election around the nation, anyone can be better than this joker is not a winning strategy. The populace may not be happy with say President Biden, however, that doesn't motive them to vote for anybody against Biden aka Let's go Brandon.
DeSantis as Governor of the free state of Florida is a strong leader and the red wave his Florida this past Tuesday. Oh another quick note they didn't have issues counting votes as was the case in other states such as Nevada - who's Governors and US Senate races were called days after election day - and Arizona where votes are still being counted for Governor.
Still there is only one Ron DeSantis, however, perhaps even if blue states had their own version of DeSantis. At least one who is very principled and can govern where would many of these states be. Who could be Illinois' DeSantis for example? And what about states like California or New York?
[VIDEO] Last nite's monologue from Tucker Carlson's program.
Only once have I really featured a billionaire named George Soros from this guy on YouTube - Mr. Beat - who discusses his background in a video.
Anyway Tucker starts off with talking about George Soros shorted the English Pound currency and won. It's worth less after his gambit and the British became poorer as a result. The Bank of England fought it and collapsed.
Also from George Soros, he wanted European nations to open their borders to refugees from Africa and the Middle East and those nations that allowed it became poorer and more crime ridden. Tucker mentions that in Paris, France crime has gone up, especially sexual assaults.
Here in America, Soros has helped elected prosecutors who contribute to high crime. Why? Because they're picking and choosing what laws to enforce. They allowed certain criminals to go free because well they're of color and oppressed or perhaps they're Biden voters. Strange isn't it.
He cites Krasner out of Philadelphia, however, let's add Alvin Bragg out of New York, George Gascon in Los Angeles, now recalled Chesa Boudin out of San Francisco, or even our very own Kim Foxx here in Chicago. And then we got the now suspended by FL Gov. Ron DeSantis out of Tampa named Andrew Warren.
And this is the note that Tucker closes on. He would have Gov. DeSantis on his program after this to discuss his action on yesterday - something posted about here. If you're concerned about actors like Soros, you have to fight back and of course in situations like that it will be painful as Great Britain learned.
[VIDEO] This video was published today. Down there is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is suspending Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren.
As I post this I'm going through the video and see Gov. DeSantis cite the issues in Los Angeles and San Francisco for their prosecutors failing to adequate prosecute criminals. Even cite that in S.F. - reminder they recalled their prosecutor as crime rose there - you can steal a certain amount of merchandise and you won't be arrested nor prosecuted.
DeSantis said Warren put himself above the law by signing letters saying he would not enforce any prohibitions on sex change operations for minors and would not prosecute abortion cases. He made the latter statement after Roe v. Wade was struck down by the Supreme Court.
"It's not for (Warren) to put himself above that, and say that he is not going to enforce the law," DeSantis said at the news conference. "We don't elect people in one part of the state, to have veto power over what the entire state decides on these important issues.
"The constitution of Florida has vested the veto power in the governor, not in individual state attorneys. And so when you flagrantly violate your oath of office, when you make yourself above the law, you have violated your duty, you have neglected your duty, and you are displaying a lack of competence to be able to perform those duties. So today we are suspending State Attorney Andrew Warren effective immediately."
I know some states have the ability to remove - independent of recall - of prosecutors. Particularly elected prosecutors like Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx who got a second term in 2020. In this state, I'm not aware of such a process and voters can't recall her. So we get to recall her in 2024 when voters choose the next POTUS because it definitely won't be Joe Biden running again.
Either way he doesn't mention the issues of Manhattan where a prosecutor there District Attorney Alvin Bragg is engaging in the practice that got Mr. Warren suspended and ultimately to be removed from office. Crime is rising in NYC especially in Manhattan. The Governor of NY is Kathy Hochul, she's running for re-election and hopefully crime is important to voters there. She's not taken any action yet from what I can tell.
Here in Illinois - Chicago area especially crime is an issue. Our Gov. J.B. Pritzker seems to run ads about making Illinois a haven for abortions. How about making this state safer for your citizens? What are we going to do about rising crime in an important urban center such as Chicago?
So anyway, the above video shows how Gov. DeSantis right now is my favorite Republican right now. I do hope he becomes POTUS one day, even as soon as 2024. Sorry Trump you were great too, however, DeSantis is the future!
[VIDEO] Well if anyone attacked Florida's newest law Parental Rights in Education it only served to make Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis a more well known name. He seems to be one of the de facto leaders of the Republican Party along with former President Donald Trump (or 45 and perhaps soon to be 47).
I heard on the radio he'll be in Chicago for an event at Trump Tower. If only I was within those circles...
We've been hearing about grooming a lot lately. It's a disturbing psychological practice convincing someone or otherwise establishing a connection with someone for a nefarious purpose.
In Florida, a law was enacted to empower parents and certainly to prevent grooming by education officials towards any sexual identity. Of course beyond that grooming goes on in the context of child sexual abuse.
When I thought about the implications of this R. Kelly came to mind. He chose to abuse very young girls not yet of legal age. Almost got caught doing it as it was recorded on video and it seems he never slowed down. He probably groomed his victims knowing that many were attracted to his fame to start.
And then this story from CapFax a GOP candidate for an IL state legislative seat is forced to drop out due to allegations of grooming. It involved a bottle of alcohol and the juvenile's parents reported this to police.
In this context when I wrote my post about R. Kelly a few months ago children are certainly vulnerable and teens although vulnerable are able to take care of themselves for the most part. Whether you have young children or teens I hope this idea of grooming disturbs you.
[VIDEO] Gov. Ron DeSantis who could be a future POTUS is a leader. I could follow this guy, hell perhaps even work with him. We've been hearing so much about "don't say gay", but then what does it mean.
It was referenced by Wanda Sykes who childishly - well she is a comedian - kept saying gay during the ceremony in reference to the bill. It seems this is the soundbite people are using with this proposal.
However the Blaze video above refers to this Florida bill signed into law by the Florida Governor is more of an anti-grooming bill. At least we hear his words with regards to the bill and why he signed it into law.
[VIDEO] Been hearing a whole lot about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. He's been a thorn in the side of one President Brando... sorry Biden and of course proponents of lockdowns and strict mandates to combat coronavirus. It does appear that there are plenty of forces from other politicians around America to the media who seem intent on discrediting DeSantis. However, DeSantis' star is growing to the point where perhaps in the future he could be a presidential candidate.
If not in 2024 perhaps in '28. He's a relatively young guy believe it or not, however, time will tell if he will make that leap. He sounds as if he will be running for re-election next year in '22 so do another full-term and then go headfirst into a presidential campaign. Well I hope he continues running Florida very well in these difficult times.
[VIDEO] Been a while since I featured a video from Reason.tv and they talk about while California is in decline. A high standard of living due to taxes and environmental regulation as far as real estate or energy. Then we have the homeless crisis and perhaps the governing class showing no real interest in attempting to solving these issues. We also learned earlier this year that California will lose a congressional seat.
Meanwhile Texas and Florida are gaining population and gaining congressional seats. Did you know that by 2045, Texas could become the largest state in the union population wise. Texas will be where the opportunities are and so is Florida although you might have to worry about snow and hurricanes in both places. That's not to say California is all perfect but it does have generally nice weather.
As long as people leaving California don't bring some of their bad habits which turned California dreams into California nightmares. And we shall see what happens with the recall of Gov. Gavin Newsome, will the Golden State make a change this year as far as the leadership of their state?
Last nite on FOX News I saw Mark Levin interview Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Let me just say the Governor has developed quite a reputation. He fully reopened Florida and ended many of his gov't mandates in his state and perhaps a model for where many states can direct their states as this pandemic appears to be on the wane.
Sadly that also makes him a target. There are many who want him to be so wrong. And having not watched 60 Minutes for many years, a network TV news magazine I used to respect his words are being distorted and I see here that many in his home state are taking umbrage.

[VIDEO] ABL discusses the recent story of Andrew Gillum who comes out as bisexual in an interview with Tamron Hall - you might remember her as an anchor for Chicago's FOX TV affiliate. ABL states that it's hard to find video footage although you see a piece of that interview where Gillum a former mayor of Tallahassee, Florida who lost his bid to become Governor of Florida to Ron DeSantis in 2018 comes out of the closet as bi.
Gillum was also touted as a future presidential candidate although he lost his bid to become the first Black Governor of Florida and perhaps the first Democrat Governor since Buddy McKay (who served only 24 days upon the death of longtime Democrat Governor Lawton Chiles). Kind of like how Democrat nominee for Governor of Georgia Stacy Abrams was touted as a potential VP candidate to Joe Biden and she herself also lost that race and doesn't currently hold an elected office.
So as far as Gillum I first heard about this when I saw a link to a story on fb. My thoughts are why is this news now, he's irrelevant and we're talking about him exposing his sexual proclivities. In reality why is this our business that's really between him and his family as he is married with three children.
The last time he was in the news he was found in a hotel room in Florida with three other man last year. There were narcotics in that room - meth probably. And he was found naked one of the three men was a known male escort. Later he stated he was going to rehab for alcoholism. Until recently he was out of sight and out of mind and now this.
Perhaps this is part of his crisis management to rebuild his image. Well only he knows, my thing is he should've just stayed low.
As with some of the other things that came out about him since he lost the 2018 election in Florida for me, this revelation will be out of sight and out of mind.
