Another Stephen Douglas monument to go

Douglas Monument by Really Boring/flickr
This time in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood according a proposal from three Democrat state representatives from Chicago. As recorded in history the late US Senate Stephen Douglas ran for President against the late Abraham Lincoln (the 16th POTUS) in 1860. The controversy became now in 2020 that Douglas had at one point owned slaves during his lifetime.
Last week the Speaker of the state house expressed interest in removing Sen. Douglas' portrait from the floor of the IL House of Representatives to be replaced by the 44th POTUS Barack Obama.

Here's more information on Sen. Douglas' monument actually it's his tomb, here's buried on 35th Street.

Did Douglas own those slaves himself? Or did his wife inherit them from her father?
