An article from
the CATO Institute about how public transit has fared under largely
public ownership. The conclusion appears to be that public ownership is
a failure. I can always wonder how the Chicago Transit Authority would
fare if it was operated by a private company.
For additional reading I posted a link
to a Chicago Reader article about the history of public transportation
in Chicago. Once upon a time, Chicago's public transit was under
private operation.
