Quote of the day!

I found this quote and it's not necessarily related to anything news related it's just worth your attention.
"Sometimes, I feel discriminated against, but it does not make me angry. It merely astonishes me. How can any deny themselves the pleasure of my company? It's beyond me."

~Zora Neale Hurston.
I found out that this quote comes from Hurston's book, How It Feels to be Colored Me.

A quote

Provided this morning by Jack & Jill Politics...
“Every man and woman is born into the world to do something unique and something distinctive, and if he or she does not do it, it will never be done.”
This quote is provided by Dr. Benjamin Elijah Mays, the late former President of Morehouse College. You might have read about him around these parts.

A quote!

From black author James Baldwin...
"The paradox of education is precisely this -- that as one begins to become conscious one begins to examine the society in which he is being educated." - James A. Baldwin (author)

A quote for today

One of our founding fathers Benjamin Franklin once said that...
Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
It's often paraphrased as...
Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither.
Found here. If you scroll down you will find that this quote is found on the title page of An Historical Review of the Constitution and Government of Pennsylvania written in 1759 and was attributed to Benjamin Frankin in the 1812 addition. Of course there's more to it than that.

I share this because it's something worth marinating on!
