What's next for the Jackson dynasty???

Today's Sneed column. Having observed local aldermanic politics for a long time sometimes becoming a Democratic committeeman is something a spoil for the victors. When an alderman gets knock off, the new one can take over for the old one. The new alderman either runs against the original committeeman or the original committeeman declares that they won't run and the new alderman, assuming there aren't any other people seeking the job, cruises to certain victory.

The importance of being a committeeman in either party though in Chicago being a Democratic committeeman carries more weight, is important. It has nothing to do with the fact that they get paid because they don't. It certainly means more clout.

So where is this going?

Well, the spoils of victory for the surprise victory over the Beaver's machine in the 7th ward could mean that the Jackson dynasty (as Sneed refers to the Jacksons in her column) are planning their next moves now that one part of this puzzle as been complete. This comprises more of the first part of this column and I will just post the pertinent parts in its entirety here...

Watch for Cook County Commissioner Bill Beavers, who has called himself "the hog with the big nuts," to become an example of a big hat with no cattle.

• • Translation: Sneed hears the Jackson dynasty -- which canceled Beavers' daughter Darcel Beavers' attempt to hang on to her dad's old City Council seat by handing U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.'s wife, Sandi Jackson, the job -- plans to behead Beavers again.

• • Explanation: Sneed hears the Jacksons' next move will be to remove Beavers as the 7th Ward Dem committeeman.

• • The big question: Will other African-American pols be intimidated by the Beavers' trouncing and find themselves hard-pressed not to become Jackson allies? Betchya.

• • The big talk: Political wags are betting if Mayor Daley decides not to run again, the new king in town could be a Jackson.

I can believe the Jackson's can take a committeeman spot, but as for Daley deciding not to run. I'm going to have to see that. Yeah I may have predicted that this could be his last term but not all predictions come true. This could be an interesting four years in Chicago.

i'm ecstatic that Sandi Jackson won her aldermanic election. i had the pleasure of meeting Sandi and her husband, Jesse Jr., on a cruise years ago. i was extremely impressed with her.
