I took a screen cap of this comment to my recent post about Arsenio Hall. Needless to say I was amused by it. Needless to say I marked it as spam but it did get posted to the blog. lol

A comment in an old post...

Well "The reality of war" post where I posted a picture from Andrew Sullivan's blog - The Daily Dish, formerly at the Atlantic and now at The Daily Beast. It's a disturbing picture as we see a dead little girl buried in rubble and it almost looks like her head was dismembered.

That post is a little over two years old and the issues that this little girl is caught up are still out there.

As for whoever posted that comment, it's very hateful. Rarely, thank goodness, does this blog run into such comments. If it got more readers it could get worse but once in a blue moon is easy to deal with.

I just make note of them as I come to them and you won't see it in the comment feed. Of course some comments because blog post in and of themselves.

BTW, what's with this talk of Israel going back to their 1967 boundaries. Speaking of issues their still fighting over in the Mideast about a two state solution and whether or not Israel should give back some territory that they've grab during the various wars they have fought. It seems like there will be some unresolved issues over there no matter how much Israel would even want to concede. It strikes me as well there are those who are against Israel for as long as it exists.

Perhaps, that might be where this comment comes from.

Businesses leaving California for Utah

Well the exodus of people and employers from California is nothing new. I hear they're going to Arizona and Nevada although I'm sure businesses and employers are going to other places that are more business friendly.

In reading the comments regarding companies leaving for Utah at Gateway Pundit I just have to highlight this comment:

More whites = more productivity
More whites = less crime
More whites = less taxes

I literally hate this comment. I can understand that gov't can make the environment of a particular jurisdiction unbearable for business. I would hate to think that being white will make a given area better.

Although put in another way there are plenty of people who are in need of services. Perhaps that's what the commenter is referring to even if it was made very sloppily. Although it almost makes it seem like "non-whites" are a big drain and surely that's not entirely true.

Comment with regards to my post about Covenant Bank

I'm very surprised at times when old posts get comments. I wrote a post about the news that the old Community Bank of Lawndale was bought out a few years ago by Covenant Bancshares and became Covenant Bank. They may have taken issue with some remarks I made in discussing it close to three years ago:

Sooo..... I'm looking for an ending, a resolution, a point/moral to the story. The author suggests that CBL did not prosper because it served a poor neighborhood. Is it the assumption, or resolution, that it is unlikely that bank under Covenant Bancshares ownership will not be able to prosper because the surrounding conditions have not changed?

You know I'm not sure there was a resolution/point/moral to this post. It was only to inform. It isn't unknown that Lawndale has been a depressed neighborhood over the years. Also I'm not certain that Covenant Bancshares either will succeed or won't succeed because of surrounding conditions.

To be sure I would be interested because I want to see another Black-owned bank succeed and certainly being in a depressed community would be an impediment. At the same time it is providing a necessary service to a community that can use it.

Also I understand certain parts of the city's west side is experiencing some growth lately. Even if it has been hampered by current economic conditions. Let's sincerely hope that Covenant Bancshares will remain in business for the day that Lawndale finally does turn around.

Let's also note that Covenant Bank also has a loan office in Forest Park, IL if you look at their locations page. Seaway Bank & Trust started off with one branch itself and now it has branched oustide of Chatham in Bronzeville, Roseland, and in north suburban Waukegan, IL. The Waukegan branch also started off as a loan office as well.

Only time will tell I suppose.

Oh yeah, this is the kind of story I wish Crain's could do. But the story of how Covenant Bancshares is faring in their home neighborhood would be one I would like to see.

I've got to say something about Haqikah Suggs

On June 1, 2007, I wrote about a story from Joliet where a teenaged girl was at first unidentified and there was something of a digitally created composite sketch for her. Anyone who watched the news that day finally knew this young girl's identity.

Haqikah (pictured above) was also known as Kekah. And since we discovered that she had been found dead in a park in Joliet I've been getting comments in that original post probably from friends and family who may well miss her. They very much keep her in their thoughts. That last comment I received on the first of this month.

In fact I got two comments on this story for this year the earlier one for the year posted on the blog back in February.  Three were comments were posted in the post in 2009. And finally the post was largely new when two comments were posted on June 6, 2007. Obviously there are people out there who still care about her and this story.

In the past, perhaps a year or so, Googled to see if there had been any updates to her murder. Unfortunately I had found that there had been no real updates as to who murdered her.

So I think it's totally apropriate to put her name and face out there one more time. One story with her name in it involved a possible link to other murders in Joliet. Perhaps a serial killer was loose during that time period. Of course that story from WBBM-AM was published in December 2007. Perhaps since then we know nothing about who murdered the 14 year old girl.

Since I see that there are people who still care about her or at least this story. That warrants this post today. Hopefully there can be closure for those who care about this young lady!

This "spam" comment was in response to this thread about a Mary Mitchell column on birth control. I posted excerpts from that column close to two years ago.

Heh, when you think about it, why is the commenter who is known as "Julia F." talking about getting divorced and meeting a wonderful girl, but complaining about soft erections. I didn't know there were men named Julia. :P

Second comment on the Karl Marx post

I wrote this post over a year ago in within a very short period of time has only recently garnered two comments. I already wrote about the first here's the second comment:

If you actually believe a dictatorship is what makes a communism and therefore the proletariat you have problems that cant possibly be fixed and you are doomed to frolic for the rest of your life in the idiocy of American society. Nowhere does Marx say that a communism will be run without a government ideally. Whoever your teacher is he's an idiot. So i think you should read the communist manifesto as you like the rest of America seem to have been taught the wrong thing and end up thinking they know what they're talking about. Your next step would be reading other manuscripts by Marx, Engels, and Lenin.

First of all my political theory professor was a she so that's what you get for making assumptions. Second it's not very nice to call an idiot someone you really don't know. More importantly you don't know what was taught in that class. You may even have any clue that perhaps she may harbor some sympathies to Communism even if she may have been able to pick off some of the holes in Marx's arguments.

That being said I'm taking a political theory course right now where we will exaclty be talking about Marx' Communist Manifesto. So I will definitely hear the argument for a Communist society from the horse's mouth himself. And I thank you for your reading suggestions for that I definitely want to take you up on them.

Let me attack your idea that I said that dictatorship was what makes Communism or the Proletariat. I never said that although I don't support Communism. Would you understand that the "Dictatorship of the Proletariat" is to be a step towards true Communism? I probably didn't indicate that in my original thread but that was the point.

Although my assertion was that the nations that are classified as Communist dictatorships may not be considered true Communism. As I stated they were stuck in a phase of the dictatorship of the proletariat. Now you may be right if I use that term incorrectly and it doesn't necessarily mean a concentrated leadership under only one person or group of persons. Unfortunately that's what a lot of these nations became.

Also I understand that in order to form a Communist state, especially starting with the old Soviet Union under Vladimir Lenin they chose to skip a step in the evolution to a communist system. That is at some point they go directly into the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, however, there's probably a stage before that which was skipped. I would assume that stage involved the bourgeoisie.

Anyway I have to do more research on this to understand the steps to a Communist system. I think your premise about what I wrote was wrong, but I would like to invite you to come back and offer a bit more about your knowledge of Communism.

Recent comment on the Karl Marx post

I just accepted this comment today on a post on Karl Marx that I had written almost a year ago:

"Capitalism is hard because there are bound to be 'winners' or 'losers' in capitalism unfortunately."

This is not justice, this is why I struggle against capitalism.

OK, but what do you propose we change capitalism with exactly. Are you proposing that we go to Communism? It should be noted that it's been tried around the world with varying degrees of success or failure looking at the state.

I've also said in that post that I don't believe that Capitalism is the best or most ideal system, but I have a much greater faith in that system or philosophy than I did Communism or Socialism. An individual should be able to make the most out of Capitalism. Under Communism or Socialism it might be great to have a safety net, but you're still largely at the mercy of someone else.

Honestly I would like to see what would be brought about as soon as the struggle against capitalism is concluded!

You complain about freedom of speech and civil rights. But yet you do the same thing.. You truly are a piece of shit

The top part of this is a message you would see when you seek to post a comment. The other statement is the stupidity I just saw to be moderated.

Ironically this was posted in a photographic post depicting a scene at the intersection of 111th & Michigan. That wasn't designed to be a post complaining about freedom of speech and civil rights. It was just a picture of a Chicago neighborhood.

That comment was made out of sheer stupidity! I don't often enough write about issues of civil rights or free speech. Indeed I don't know what this has to do with a photograph.

In this regard this individual broke one rule. There aren't many comments on this blog anyway, even then I would hope that the comments are in general in line with what is posted. In that regards you have free speech so long as you stay on topic. That's the main rule this individual, and they know who they are, broke.

If this person wants free speech then instead of posting his own non-sensical anonymous off-topic comments, they might want to consider starting their own blog. That's much better than complaining about one blog's moderating policy. Besides that's a waste of time anyway.

A recent comment

On that story about that girl who beat her son to death. I blogged about that this past Tuesday. I want to address a comment that was left for that story last night...

First of all let me say this....just because she looks mean in her picture does not justify your saying YUP she did it! why...cause she looks mean! Wow listen to yourself. I wonder if she was white what would you say? Think now......She is a young beautiful mother whom cared for her children deeply! Hell for her age she did better than mothers older than her...at least she asked for help! People quit being so quick to be judgemental....put your self in her shoes! And pray for her not talk about her. Now think seriously why would she kill her son? As you can see she was DEEPLY DEPRESSED...

I appreciate comments as always but I do want to address this. Understand that is entirely why I wrote this to expose my prejudice of sorts. I was entirely wrong to come to that conclusion without knowing more about this story. It is sad that a woman who by the account I mentioned was a good mother have one moment where she just loses it, and it could cost her. She may lose her kids or she may go to jail.

I'm particularly disappointed that this individual brought up race asking if I would say that if she was white. To be sure I don't know if I'd say that if she was white. If I saw a picture of her I probably would and without knowing her story I'd be wrong for coming to that conclusion as well. One thing is certain I wouldn't be justified in looking at a pic and saying yup she did it. That wouldn't be fair!
