This news just broke this morning, saw the headline pop-up on my phone.
She had been in the news for her health issues, she had been absent in the Senate. She also seemed to have been having some issues in a Senate hearing where she gave a speech when she was actually only required to vote in that situation and aides were caught on a microphone telling her to just say aye. Another soundbite shows that she didn't realize she had been absent from the Senate.
A lot of people have been lamenting the greying of our politicians in Washington, DC and especially the health issues and mental acuity of those who are at the very least 70+. Joe Biden as President is 80 years-old. Donald Trump the 45th POTUS and front-runner for the 2024 GOP nomination for President is 77.
You also have Nancy Pelosi former Speaker of the House she's planning to run again for her House seat in 2024 she's 83 years-old. You have GOP Senate Leader Mitch McConnell - we've been hearing about news of his own health issues and mental acuity he's 81 years-old.
And sorry to go onto this tangent, Sen. Feinstein was 90 and her long career was characterized as a trailblazing one for women. And I'm sorry that we got the issues that we had near the end of her life.
And that means California will ultimately have to send someone to fill her Senate seat in her place. They have big shoes to fill, I'm sure. Who will attempt to fill those shoes?
