Federal law enforcement officials this afternoon said at least one person was in custody in connection with the May 22 robbery and shootout at a South Side bank that left one teller dead.Previous posts
Randall Samborn, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office, said two people were in custody. He said one suspect is expected to appear before a judge Saturday morning, when charges are expected to be filed and the suspect's identity would be released. He said the second is expected to be charged Monday.
FBI spokesman Ross Rice confirmed that at least one person was in custody, but said no charges had been filed. More details were to be released this evening, Rice said.
Federal investigators and Chicago police have been sorting through a number of tips in recent days.
Three men wearing masks robbed the bank. A 23-year-old teller, Tramaine Gibson, was fatally shot and a security guard and customer were wounded in a shootout as the robbery unfolded.
