I was a senior in high school when I finally got my hands on this book. It was basically a fictional look at a person who aspired to be president who was loosely based on Bill Clinton.
I remember that I first heard about this book on CNN's Inside Politics and then when they revealed the previously anonymous author as Joe Klein, a journalist. I was still interested in the book so I went and bought a paperback from the defunct Crown Books. I did read the book and I was half way thru it then I just forgot about it.
You know a funny story about me reading the book. It might seem arrogant, but I was reading this school in high school. Perhaps I was the only one who'd be caught with a book in my hand (or perhaps the only guy who'd be caught with a book in my hand). I had a female classmate who probably was a lot more well-read than I was ask me what book I was reading.
Knowing that there was a possibility that she never would have heard of it, I attempted to blow off the question. She persisted and I finally told her, and my suspicions proved to be correct. The title didn't ring any bells with her.
I think this book, might be placed in the book list you'll find in the sidebar. Thanks to the fact that I'm not a very enthusiastic and voracious read, it'll be a while before I start back on it. Let alone actually finish the book.
On that list there are only two or three books that I've actually cracked open. Only one I've actually read. I gotta work on that.
BTW, I'm gonna have to see the movie based on this book again as well. Maybe that'll be one of my projects later on. I get the movie on DVD, but I read first then watch the movie.
