A Warrant Was Signed

They opened the door with a warrant.

Glenn Beck posted this Monday afternoon, hours after the first reports. [VIDEO]

Homeland Security Investigations agents arrived before dawn at the Washington residence of Rep. Ilhan Omar. Neighbors described banging on doors around 4:30 or 5 a.m. Agents in HSI jackets were still on the street later that morning, carrying boxes out of the house. The Department of Justice confirmed that HSI executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the department as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation. No further details were released. No charges have been filed.

Sources who spoke to Fox News, Reuters, CBS, and others described the probe as focused on alleged immigration fraud and false statements tied to paperwork completed by Omar’s late father when she was a child. She arrived in the United States as a refugee in the mid-1990s. Omar’s office called the search an “outrageous abuse of power” and an attempt to weaponize law enforcement against a political enemy. On X she wrote that she was okay, that Trump had targeted her for a decade with “baseless lies,” and that she would not be silenced. House Democratic leaders issued a joint statement calling the action deeply disturbing.

Beck’s segment centers on a different long-running claim. He asks whether agents were looking for DNA evidence that could settle, one way or the other, the allegation that Omar entered a marriage with a brother for immigration purposes. He notes that the State Department once paused certain African asylum applications after DNA testing showed high rates of fraudulent family claims, and he recalls that he raised the brother-marriage reporting years ago when it received little attention. The video treats the judicially approved warrant as the new fact, not the older public accusations.

The reporting that has circulated so far points to the childhood paperwork rather than the marriage claim. Those are distinct allegations. A federal magistrate judge still had to find probable cause that evidence of a crime was present at the residence before signing the warrant. That step is not required for a political speech or a cable segment. The midterm elections are three weeks away. Omar is seeking reelection. The Justice Department has traditionally limited enforcement actions that could be seen as influencing an election, though the department has not explained how it weighed that policy here.

The boxes left the house. What they contain has not been described in public. The investigation is ongoing. The warrant was already signed.
