[VIDEO] Elder's argument if Obama could've used his influence as President of the United States to encourage Black people or perhaps people in general to cooperate with police instead of engaging police negatively. Be cooperative and don't go out of your way to argue with them, cooperate and if you feel as if you're being treated unfairly get a name and badge number to address this at a later time. Don't find yourself in a position to get arrested and especially don't get killed.
Sounds easy right? Well I haven't been in many situations like this so, it's definitely easy for me to say.
It's interesting to see him go across high profile cases of police encounters. Henry Louis Gates, Trayvon Martin - not a police encounter actually, Freddie Gray, Jacob Blake, Eric Garner, or even Sandra Bland. I heard for the first time that Bland's death in police custody in Texas was an apparent suicide and decided to do some quick cursory research on this tragic case.
And they went to that activist in Arizona who while he protested police violence realized how difficult a job police officers actually do have. It's something we don't often appreciate and it's very easy to paint police as a villain given their role in our society. I shared a video on that during the past year.
